We needed to grab a bite after touring James J. Hill House and the Cathedral. Cafe Latte seemed promising and more importantly, close by. Sadly, the website does not truly express the depth in menu offerings but there were a selection of salads, soups, sandwiches, beverages (both hot & cold) plus desserts. Refreshingly, you can request small or large portions in addition to several sampler plates which give you the chance to avoid picking just one thing. On top of that, everything seemed reasonable priced so you won't break the bank on lunch - save the money to shop nearby at Pottery Barn, Ten Thousand Villages, Hot Mama, etc.
if you like scones, be sure to check out the berry one. Even those who have sworn off scones due to their dry texture will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not sure that I would rank this restaurant #1, but then again we didn't have a dessert and I believe that a lot of the high rankings are for the desserts. The cafeteria style is a bit confusing, especially with people behind you who are quick decision-makers wanting to forge ahead. The food was good, but I wouldn't say it's the best in St. Paul. Nevertheless, I would return if I didn't want to try every other top restaurant in the area.

As first-time visitors unfamiliar with the restaurant, we were a bit confused about the way things were organized. It was very busy during the lunch hour we were there, and it was a quick-moving cafeteria-style line, so we made quick decisions at the salad station. Sadly, we ended up missing the bakery items that are located in a separate area. Now that we've read other reviews, next time we'll be sure to wander to the back and nab a dessert. We enjoyed our salads, but we'd have preferred a quieter atmosphere. That said, we still will go back the next time we're in St. Paul.

Great place to have a reunion with friends whom you haven't seen. The very wide selection accommodates a range of palates, including picky eaters. Cafeteria style food also allows you to manage a budget.

Food is fresh. One can mix and match. One can eat light or heavy (including pastries).

For gatherings come early if you are planning a dinner, so you can assure yourself of a table. It's easier to hold a conversation by the taller bistro tables.
