Buca is a great restaurant if you are looking for an electric atmosphere and good comfort food. Many suggest this as a great destination spot for large groups. I would certainly agree ... the Italian diningroom feel and gregarious wait staff are the perfect backdrop for a group outing. However, Buca has much to offer for couples, too.
The menu is Italian family-style dining ... large portions meant for sharing. There are small portions as well ... perfect for two. All the standards are available ... lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti, manicotti, etc. Therre are chicken dishes, and the veal is pleasantly good. Prices upper $20s per entre (mid-teens for small portions). Remember that an entre will easily feed 3 to 4 people (more if you are ordering multiple entres).
The appeal of Buca is the casual, festive atmosphere. This is a great place to enjoy raucus conversation with family and friends. the staff puts no rush on your dinner progression, so if you are looking for a long evening out then this is the place. The pace of your dinner will be as quick or as casual as you choose.
I give Buca five stars. My only criticism would be that the menu has a lack of character ... there is nothing on the menu that is unique to Buca. However, all dishes are cooked to order and are delicious. The atmosphere is fantasic ... a restaurant brimming with positive energy, making for a fun and memorable night out with family and friends. I highly recoomend.
