“Disappointing”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

I am a business traveler, and make my reservations well in advance.
My fellow coworker and I share rooms, so I ALWAYS request double beds.
Arrive, and am told they are sold out.
Sorry, ma'am just cannot help you.
This was one of the places we thought about to hold our daughters wedding party.
Not now.
Very displeased with their indifference.
If not at a busy convention, I would have left and sought another hotel.

I am so sorry we could not accommodate your need for a room with two double beds. The Dental Convention's housing bureau had made your reservation as a single bed, and as you know, the convention sold us out of all of our rooms.

My apologies if our staff did not handle the situation well. If you'd like to discuss further, please feel free to give me a call 651.228.3801.

Thank you.

We found this to be a well-maintained, elegant hotel. It is situated in a prime location in downtown St. Paul MN. Staff are cordial and helpful, the room was clean and the restaurants and bars in the hotel offer delicious food and an animated environment in the evenings. On weekends jazz in the hotel lobby near the palms and fireplace can't be beat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the park.

Green Features: The St. Paul Hotel employs a number of "green" practices throughout the hotel facilities.

I stayed for 6 nights recently as part of a business trip and found the hotel very welcoming and hospitable. The hotel has a combination of an old-fashioned feel, with modern features - a combination that works well in my view. The bedroom was quiet and comfortable, with a well equipped and clean bathroom. The choice for breakfast was extensive and all the servers were friendly and helpful. The gym was small, but contained a good mix of equipment, although I did find it a little warm and only one window that could be opened 10cm. Overall, I enjoyed the stay, would return and would recommend the hotel to others.

Green Features: I think the hotel had a towel re-use program, but despite hanging mine up each day, they were still replaced daily, so I cannot vouch for the implementation of the policy at the hotel! More to do in this regard!

I stayed at this hotel for a conference and it was an awesome stay. It was my first time to Minnesota. The hotel was comfortable, the staff was more than hospitable, and the bath products were all Aveda (based in MN). The gym was small but had everything (free weights, treadmills, and even a rowing machine).

It's located near awesome restaurants, the Museum of Science, and the library. I was only there 4 days but wish I could stay longer to check out the other sites.

Did I mention free wifi?

Green Features: There's a sign that tells you the hotel only has heat vs AC in every room. I found that point really interesting and realized this hotel actually take quite a few steps to be more energy efficient and "green".

We would love to have you come back! You're right, four days is not enough time to enjoy all that Saint Paul has to offer. Thank you for such a nice review.

See you next year!

The Saint Paul Hotel is a wonderful historic hotel in downtown St. Paul. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Check-in and check out were quick and easy. The room was spacious with a desk for working and an overstuffed chair for relaxing. The bathroom has granite countertops and soft towels. The room was very quiet, and the view was beautiful. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the St. Paul Hotel for my wife's birthday. We chose the 'Celebrate in Style Package' which included a room with a double bed, fresh flowers, valet parking, a $50 per person dinner credit for the St. Paul Grille (the hotel restaurant) and a $15 per person breakfast credit at The M ST. Cafe' (the hotel breakfast room). This hotel is the best; personalized and friendly service; great room accomodations; a top-class restaurant and bar; a desire to treat you as a very special guest; and a great location in the heart of St. Paul. This hotel is a national landmark that has been updated with all of the modern conveniences. Whether we're in St. Paul for a special occasion, for a concert at the nearby Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, at the Science Museum of St. Paul, or just want to get away for a night or two, this is a 'very special hotel' and one we've stayed at on numerous occasions. To experience the 'best' of St. Paul, consider making a reservation here!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Rice Park and the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.

I recently stayed at The Saint Paul Hotel for 5 nights traveling on a mix of business and pleasure. The hotel is very clean, the staff is super friendly & helpful and the hotel is in a great location. Access to the skywalk is right in the hotel. Walgreens is around the corner. Delicious restaurants nearby. The hotel will allow early check in if they are not sold out (they let us check in at 9 a.m.). They are very accommodating - I requested a coffee maker in my room and they did bring me one. Also someone else I work with requested a small fridge since she is nursing and they brought her one. The room was spotless. The breakfast in the M Street Cafe was DELICIOUS! They also have a complimentary shuttle that will bring you anywhere in the general downtown area.

The reason for the 4 star rating instead of 5 is the hotel has only one heat system and if it is a heat day, your room will be boiling hot. Turning on the air or lowering the temperature won't help - the only thing you can do is open the window, which is difficult on higher floors because they do not open very much. If your thermostat is set at 67 expect your room to reach well over 85 on heat days.
