“Nice getaway”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

This resort is a bit out of the way and far from the main downtown area. But the distance can be very welcomed if you are looking for a little time away from it all. Easy ride to downtown in the hotel car so if you want to get to the city it is only 20 minutes away.

The staff were all very accommodating and attentive. English was hit and miss depending on who you were speaking to but certainly enough to pass. There was always someone nearby who could help if needed.

The breakfast was simple but sufficient. The restaurant was also OK and food prices were OK.

The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. In-room amenities were a bit thin and included only shampoo and soap. A little surprised they were not a little better stocked including toothbrush, comb and other basic toiletries.

The pool was not heated and the jacuzzi was also not heated. I passed on a swim but maybe welcomed when the summer temperature gets booming.

It was for sure a nice break and comfortable stay. I would recommend this if you do not want to be downtown and/or want a little golf focused holiday.

Room Tip: The "Superior" rooms are a little larger and had more toiletries. But for the price -- I...

We chose this hotel so my husband could play golf, while the children and I went to the Elephant Nature Park and White Water Rafting. The course was tight, with lots of water and very quick greens, but the lady caddies were good and he was able to play with other golfers. Tee times start from 6.30am, but there is a gap between 8.30 and 11.30 (don't know why), so he played later in the day, which was fine as the weather was perfect and not too hot. There are all the practice facilities you need prior to the game close at hand, and clubs, buggies, etc. available for rent.

The accommodation is fine for a short stay.... A little noisy when guests return late at night, and the beds are very hard. The food is fine although a little limited. The pool is small (not as shown on their promo picture) and cold!!!! The pool bar is very poorly staffed. Food is served in the 'club house', and is mainly aimed at the Japanese society golfers that frequent the resort.

it wasn't an ideal choice for the children and myself, as it became an issue when booking our activities, due to the distance from Chiang Mai. However, my husband was happy! In hindsight, we should have stayed in Chiang Mai and my husband travelled out to play golf.

The hotel offer a free airport transfer and free transport to and from Chiang Mai for the Sunday night market .... which is well worth the journey.

The hotel staff are very friendly, but English is an issue. However, the staff in the 'club house' speak a little better English and the lady pro is great!

Beautiful course, but a little bit out of town. Very good support facilities. Be warned though, the greens are very, very challenging. Don't be surprised to five putt! Good variety of massage services after 18 holes.

A really fantastic layout carved out of mature wood land and orchards. Feels decades old but only 10 years. Every hole is different and you generally can't see the other holes. Only took 3 1/2 hours which is the fastest round we have played in Thailand! Shame that the condition of the fairways and greens was poor and showing signs of management neglect. Caddies average. A must to play if you are visiting Chaing a Mai. We also played Highlands which was in much better condition but not as good layout.

Had a 3-night and 2-day stay, and I am personally happy and satisfied with their service. All staffs are accommodating, like giving us a free ride from club house to lobby because we're stuck due to rain.

The place is quiet. It's quite far from the downtown (around 30-45min from old city) but that's what I like about the place - not so far and still get a nice place to unwind. It's also less than 30mins away from where Yi Peng celebration is done.

We also availed their service for Yi Peng and Loi Krathong. 200THB per pax with lantern, krathong and ride to and from where the celebration is done. A very good deal!

We are just starting our second stay at Mae Jo for our 6 week vacation. The first was so enjoyable, we booked our return trip from Veintaine, Laos for 4 nights before Bangkok. The rooms are large and beautiful. Everything is well appointed right down to your towels folded as "Welcome Pigs". The attendants are very friendly although a bit more English would have been great but everything worked out! The food is very good. Go with the breakfast included as it is a better value. ( we did not do this on our first leg of the stay.). The bar by the pool was our favorite as it was quite on close to the room. I have not tried the spa yet but the prices (compared to the states) are great. We are not going to play golf, but I have watch some putting on a few of the holes and the greens are FAST! We have rented scooters aTo get from Mae Jo to Chiang Mai and its not to far. However, plan to be back before dark S the last 2.5 km are filled with potholes. All in all, if you want to relax after a hectic day, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Watch for sales on Agodo. The standard rooms are actually my favorite as you have an outside area to...
