“Beautiful Property in wonderful location close to Paris”
Reviewed 8 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This place really is how it appears in the photos. It's a wonderful pink folly set on it's own in an area of woodland on the edge of the village of Montreuil-aux-Lions. Apart from the odd plane overhead you would have no idea that you are within half an hour of Disneyland and Paris. The property is tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen/dining room opens onto a large fenced garden area where the hot tub is. We didn't get much use of of the hot tub during our stay as the weather was so hot the last thing you wanted to do was sit in hot water! However, it is easy to imagine sitting there and looking at the stars when the weather is more typical. Being fenced, the garden was perfect for our youngest child who could run around happily in complete safety. The three bedrooms are all completely independent of each other and accessed by separate staircases, so all guests have their own space. This was perfect for our two teenagers and our youngest child slept in our room which was easily large enough to accommodate him.

The owner was friendly and accommodating and, although set completely on it's own in the woods, there is a boulangerie and general store within ten minutes walk, perfect for morning croissants.

I would recommend this property without hesitation and our family certainly hopes to return here in the future.

“Wonderful folly in the woods”
Reviewed 9 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We originally booked this property because it looked quirky and there was access to a swimming pool. This was a three generation Easter holiday. Grandparents, parents and two granddaughters of 5 and 3. The girls adored the "Fairy Castle" as soon as they saw it. Although it was quite difficult to find once in the village. There is no sign at the end of the drive. The house is vast. With three double bedrooms all ensuite but all in different parts of the house so not perfect if you have very young children. However, we made it work. Camille was not able to meet us (we were late because of delays at the tunnel) but left the house open and came later to give us info. The swimming pool (which was some way away) has been replaced by a hot tub that you can use all year round and I think our granddaughters loved it more than a pool. It was the biggest hit with the three year old, although my daughter who is pregnant also loved it! Disney is only half an hour away. We visited Riems Cathedral and had lunch in the Cafe du Palais which was excellent. The tour of the Pannier Caves in nearby Chateau Thierry was a hit as was the 15% discount on the champagne purchased. We also drove to Versailles which was fairly easy and took about 90 minutes. The crowds at the chateau were huge so do book tickets on line before you go to prevent queuing. Not sure why this house is advertised for 4 adults and 2 children when it would be perfect for three adult couples. The woods are extensive and great for older children especially in good weather as there are plenty of dens to explore. In terms of plumbing, repair etc this is probably one of the best French houses I have stayed at but the outside could do with a repaint, the fridge did not close easily and was noisy and the hob was temperamental. That said, it did not detract from us having a lovely family holiday!

“Diverse opportunities for a week-long vacation”
Reviewed 15 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

If you are looking for a stylish yet comfortable stay in the midst of France, this house may well be your best bet. The house resembles the medieval castle that offers all modern conveniences. Three completely isolated bedrooms are supplemented by spacious dining hall and large kitchen. For those who love cozy evenings around fireplace there is a separate room as well.
While the house is located in the forest, it takes just about an hour to get to Paris, or Reims, or Fontainebleau.
Not far from the house you can find a swimming pool.
The hosts proved to be friendly, ready to provide any possible assistance.
