We stay here for the Outlaw nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway every year. The price is right but don't expect a holiday Inn. The beds are ok, the TV's are old tube types not a very good picture, The continental breakfast is not much. Kind of stinky in the hallway. Typical Super 8.
We spent a night here on July 29 to be near a medical appointment for the next morning. Were given room 108 (a handicapped room with shower bars). The room was very spartan and has not been renovated yet, though others said some of the rooms in the motel have already been redone. There was no bedside table, and the picture of the bed is exactly as it was when we came into the room. It didn't look like much, but we slept well on it. That bed was firmer than it looked.. I missed having a bedside table and used the computer chair to makeshift one to put my book and water on.
The water pressure was fair, the water was nice and hot. The a/c did a good job cooling off the room. There was a tiny mini fridge that kept our drinks cold. No microwave. The TV worked fine, kind of old and tired, like the room. Small selection of channels, but if you want TV there is enough to choose from. The internet worked, but is quite slow. If you have to do anything that requires a good amount of bandwidth, you won't want to do it here, but it was fine for browsing, reading email etc.
We skipped the breakfast. The breakfast area was very small and full of people. We did see cereal and some pre packaged pastries, but chose to go elsewhere for breakfast.
Check in was fine and the lady who checked us in was very friendly. They have construction workers etc who are staying long term at the hotel and they tend to congregate outside the lobby door in the evening. Nice, friendly people though, who were cooking on the bbq and not bothering anyone. We felt safe. It was quiet, and we were not disturbed at all. That was nice!
Overall, we would stay here again, if we had to. It's not the best Super 8 we've stayed in, but definitely not the worst. Housekeeping did a great job on that room, it was spotless, even the carpet. And often, that is hard to find in these types of chains, and it makes all the difference.
We stayed at this hotel was clean and neat. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We discovered that some rooms had been updated and others had not. I hope they continue to do updates. They are dog friendly and have good spots to walk your dog. I pick up after my dog so that I (or someone else) doesn't step in it after dark. Other dog owners - PLEASE pick up after your dog!
The rooms were clean and the staff were reasonably friendly. Not that centrally located however, as long as you don't mind driving it wasn't an issue. Continental breakfast was among the poorest I've had at a Super 8.
