My husband and I stayed two nights in May and were very happy with the Staples Inn. Cathy was a wonderful hostess and the breakfasts were delicious. Just the right amount of food. Visiting with the other guests is informative and fun.
We had the Riverview Room which suited us as it has a swing on the porch part of the room and my husband loves to swing!!!

My husband and I took my Mother on a little "getaway", and ended up in beautiful Stillwater...Called the Aurora Staples Inn from the car outside the Inn to check availability for that evening...We were so excited when we heard they only had two rooms left! We reserved them both right away!
This Victorian Home is gorgeous, very clean, and comfortable, inside and outside!...Located within walking distance, (about 7 blocks), to restaurants, antique shops, boutique clothing and unique little gift stores...
The owner Cathy greeted us warmly at arrival and checked us into our rooms... Both of our rooms were dust free, clean, designer sheets, and comfortable beds!
Breakfast the next morning was at 9:00...Cathy made an egg dish with fresh herbs and bacon...The orange juice tasted like fresh squeezed! A dark chocolate mini cup with creme inside was also served with a very good cup of coffee.
Definitely a must try!

My wife and I stayed a Thursday night to celebrate a birthday. During Christmas 2010, my wife toured five Stillwater area B&B's as part of a Christmas Tea promotion and chose the Aurora Staples as her favorite. It must be a favorite for many because it was filled on a week night in February! Our experience topped all the B&B's we have tried over the past ten years. Cathy was welcoming, and efficiently helpful in getting us settled. The whole house and our room was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The breakfast of fruit yogurt with granola, fresh chives egg bake with bacon on the side and a raspberry cobbler for dessert was just right. (It included coffee & orange juice and the eggs were hot, not cold like our last B&B visit elsewhere.) The room was heated by a thermostatically controlled gas fireplace and included a private bath and a double whirlpool tub. Stillwater is a great little tourist destination with antique, boutique clothing, and gift shops along with a variety of restaurants and bars all within five to seven blocks of the Inn.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view note which rooms face the river on the Inn's website.

We stayed one night at the Aurora Staples, and found it to be a very average b&b with a few curious details. First of all, this Victorian home is stunningly beautiful from the outside, very inviting and warm looking. We were greeted at the (locked) door by the proprietor, shown around briefly, and offered wine and cheese. As it was the Christmas season, the inn was decorated beautifully and extensively throughout, with little lit trees in all the rooms, pine boughs and nutcrackers and decorations everywhere. I love that kind of thing!

Our room was the Peacock room. Adequate, if small, with a comfy queen bed. The bathroom is tiny and has no shower or tub. The bathroom door wouldn't stay closed unless you slammed several times (obviously not acceptable at 10 pm) so we basically either held it shut while we did our business, or just left it ajar. The spa/hot tub is in the bedroom, and if you want a shower, you can kneel in the spa and use the pull-out sprayer as best you can. We didn't try it. Breakfast was served from 9 - 9:30, no exceptions. We explained we were planning to leave slightly earlier in the morning, around 8 or 8:30, but there was no offer to give us even a couple of muffins or anything beyond the small amount of (very good) coffee that was left outside our door at 8.

Wifi was not accessible upstairs, but was fine in the library.

I don't mean to put anyone off. This is a cute and lovely inn. Just be a little flexible in your expectations.

My husband and I went to the aurora staples inn to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and it was perfect!! We stayed in the river view suite and really liked how it had the double whirlpool and the shower! The breakfast was exquisite and we loved meeting the people around the breakfast table. Cathy was just a doll!! We will definitely come back!!

We recently stayed at Aurora Staples to celebrate our 4th anniversary. The home is charming and cozy - exactly what you'd want in a B&B! Our room was very nice and we greatly enjoyed the whirlpool tub and fireplace. It's impossible not to fall into a relaxed stated when you enter the Inn. The breakfast with shared with 6 others (who were very friendly!) was delicious. I highly recommend a stay at the A.S.I.

Room Tip: The St. Croix Suite has a 2-sided fireplace that can be seen from the room as well as the LARGE whir...

We visited the Aurora Staples in for our 2nd Anniversary, and my husband's first experience with a B&B. The hostess was very sweet & helpful, and the accomodations were great. We have no complaints, the breakfast was good, the room clean & the guests we share breakfast with interesting!

My husband enjoyed it a lot more than he thought he would, which is great because B&B's are such a fun way to travel (for a night or two), so it's nice that he enjoyed the first one & will be open to another!

The highlight of our weekend "getaway" in Stillwater was the Picnic lunch Cathy packed us for our anniversary (on Sunday). She also gave us several suggestions of where we might enjoy the lunch & we went to the park she said over looked Stillwater. It was a beautiful view & a delicious lunch! We had always talked about picnicing and never had...now we are both so glad we did!

Overall it was a romantic weekend, and the Aurora Staples Inn set it all off on the right foot, starting with a glass of wine upon arrival & ending with a wonderful picnic.
