The Superior Gateway Lodge provided a wonderful retreat for us! Although just 7 miles (15 minutes) inland from Two Harbors, the secluded location gave us a feeling of being a world away. The only sounds were birds, crickets, and frogs! We sat out by the pond; we walked to the spring-fed brook trout stream; we read books; we relaxed. The log construction of the house is amazing and the interior is beautifully decorated. Our time there was as refreshing as their artesian spring water. Owners Pat and Joe served outstanding gourmet breakfasts each morning. They are hospitable, warm, and generous people, and our conversations with them were among the highlights of our stay. We arrived as visitors but two days later we left feeling that we had known each other for a long time. We will definitely return!

A bit off the beaten path from downtown Two Harbors, this B&B provides you with excellent lodging in a quiet, woodsland setting. Definitely worth the price if you're on a relaxing trip through the north shore, where you can enjoy the scenery and accomodations provided at the lodge. Breakfast was wonderful and the owners are friendly and fantastic to chat with.

Again, be aware that the lodge *is* a bit off the beaten path, a good 10 minutes from town and requires a few hundred yards of gravel road driving.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fantastic, be aware of the extra charges that aren't included in the whitetail room.

The picture of this place does not show the true situation - it's taken so you can't see the grounds of the facility. To reach this lodge, the main road turns into a dirt road and the long access road to the lodge is dirt. I was quite shocked when we finally arrived. The house is nice but as soon as you step outside, it's mud, rock and not much else. I've seen hunting lodges in the woods which had better grounds. Additionally, it's a long way from the lake and Two Harbors. For the price, I certainly expected a MUCH nicer place. It's probably worth a bit under $100 per night, not the $169 a night that we were charged.

I've attached a picture which is taken from directly in front of the facility, not from a low angle behind the only flowers on the property.

It would help if the owners posted true pictures of the place so that a guest is prepared for what the place really is.

Room Tip: Find a place in town.

This review was submitted upon arrival before guest had experienced his two night stay. His wife wrote a wonderful note in our guest book commenting on the beauty and refreshing atmosphere of the lodge. The comment on the grounds may have been referring to our site prep for a new garage and the fresh gravel used to expand our parking area? Please read the rest of the reviews for a complete overview. We look forward to serving you.

We went for a my birthday weekend and couldn't have been happier. An amazing place to stay that is beautiful. Short drives from hiking and restaurants. We will be going back and plan on staying at Superior Gateway Lodge again. The owners were more than accommodating and made wonderful breakfasts for us!

Room Tip: The king suite has a jacuzzi tub, there is also a room with pulsating shower heads and then another jacuzzi tub room. All are quiet and peaceful.

Despite visiting the North Shore on a few rainy days, Superior Gateway Lodge was a great place to stay--a quaint escape if you will. The owners greeted themselves and helped us to feel at home. The Romantic King Suite, in which we stayed, was amazing. The bed was extremely comfortable and the owners provided complimentary snacks, flowers, and more. The breakfast the next morning was fantastic--very elegant and well-thought out. In addition, the lodge was fairly centrally-located while still being secluded. Price was extremely reasonable for a bed and breakfast. A visit is worth it rain or shine!
