We decided to stay here when most affordable hotel rooms were sold out due to the 2013 "Tall Ships" tourists. We were hesitant of the distance from Two Harbors or Duluth. We thought the place was awesome. Nice big rooms. Awesome, high-tech showers (Slate tile and multi-head shower). The owners were very nice, they can give you great advice on what to do and see in the area. Breakfasts were always delicious. It is worth the drive from Two Harbors or Duluth. We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: The while tail room is on the lower level. It is cheaper (perhaps because the bathroom is not attached), however it is still your own private bathroom, and you basically get the entire basement to yourself. It is also cooler during the hot summer days.

We did a great weekend getaway for our anniversary and the awesome innkeepers, Joe and Pat, made our stay extra special. The room was very nicely decorated and the bed was quite comfy. We had a peaceful time and the breakfast both days was great.

Are you looking for a place to stay close to Duluth? WELL STOP LOOKING, YOU FOUND IT. There is only one thing that matches the ambiance of a hand crafted cabin hideway and untouched forrest surroundings of the north shores...and that is the phenomenol cooking, and slice of Americana-genuine personalities that are hosts Pat and Joe.My girlfriend and I stayed in the Rosewood Queen for 3 nights so we could run in Grandma's Marathon. The Superior Gateway Lodge was constructed with the craftsmanship of caring hands. Everywhere you look, walk, listen in this lodge you literally can feel the warmth of the logs. This lodge is so crafted that the design of the woodwork makes you strip down all the stresses in life, and returns you to a more simple, humanistic attitude that helps you escape from your everyday perils. The food each morning is so unique and delicious. This is the first bed and breakfast that we had ever been to, sadly enough every single one we go to from here on out will be a giant disappointment. Unfortunatley I only get 200 characters to describe this Lodge, needless to say this place,Joe and Pat, the area, the people, grandma's marathon, are all perfect and a magical experience that you can't miss.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Lodge for 5 days, the breakfasts were truly what one would call gorme and delicious to boot! Joe and Pat are wonderful people with the best hospitality and humor anyone could ask for on a vacation. We loved staying here and could not wait to find out what breakfast had in store for us the next morning. We highly recommend this to anyone! It is about 8 min from Two Harbors with wonderful flowers and a little pond out front and a fire pit. Beautiful land and craftsmanship. We will be coming back to visit!

Room Tip: The Mahogany Suite was very good value for what you spend!

We spent three nights in this wonderful lodge using Two Harbors as a base for exploring Lake Superior from Duluth (south) to Grand Marais (north) while lending support to friends running the Grandma's Marathon. The lodge is 10 minutes outside of Two Harbors - not on the lake (or busy highway) but on 40 private acres, very quiet and very peaceful. The rooms and baths were very large and tastefully done. Breakfast was great (on marathon day the Innkeepers even set out a very early race breakfast for guests headed to the start line in Two Harbors).
