We stayed here 2 nights prior to running the Grandma's Marathon. It was so nice. We stayed in the north section and had a beautiful view of the bay. Loved it. I would stay here again in a minute!

Room Tip: Stay in the north section and get a bay view.

We've been going to Burlington Bay Campground ever since our children were toddlers (thats nearly 30 years). The view of the bay and lake are breathtaking! You have a ringside seat watching loon, deer, geese, seagulls, eagles, ore ships, kayakers, and the many moods of Lake Superior itself. Nothing like sitting around a crackling campfire as the sun dips behind the trees and the fog rolls off the water. We enjoy being lulled to sleep by the waves lapping on the shore and being awaken to the call of the loons. The Campground is well groomed with bathrooms cleaned daily (although we noticed they weren't as clean as when the old guy did them for years...) They have ice and firewood for sale at the office, as well as someone to chat to and get the latest ship arrival schedules. I think our only complaint isn't the fault of the campground...its about the campers who let their dogs run off leash, or let their animals go onto other people's campsites and don't clean up after them.

Two Harbors is a quaint seaport town with loads to see and explore. Our vacation wouldn't be complete without several trips to the Two Harbors lighthouse and waterfront to watch the ore ships arriving, taking on loads at the ore docks, then heading off to deliver their loads. 3M (Minnesota, Mining and Manufacturing...of Scotch Tape fame) was based there in its early years--be sure to check out the 3M museum. There's the Edna G. tugboat moored by the docks--now a museum, the Depot Museum which has many mementos of the Lake in its logging heyday and of the CC Camps of the depression years, the Lighthouse and B&B, and the many shops along the North Shore Drive. Staying at Burlington Bay Campground you are central to many of the sights along Highway 61---Splitrock Lighthouse, Gooseberry Falls, North Shore Scenic Drive, and Duluth. I should keep this beautiful place a secret to avoid overcrowding, but its too good not to brag about.

We had a group of 8 staying in two RVs on sites overlooking Lake Superior and its rugged beach, and we couldn't have asked for much more. Checking in was easy, staff was helpful, the sites are nicely taken care of, and the view was gorgeous. I would absolutely recommend staying here. The public bathrooms could use some work, but that's the only think keeping me from giving this campground a "5" rating.
