Lots of parking and an easy walk to the gift/ticket shop. We took pictures from the outside and did not take the tour. The walk out to the tip of the water break is easy and provides good picture taking spots. No ore boats being loaded today. Worth 30 - 45 minutes.

Great visit. Stayed here on a great weekend, weather was great and had the place to ourselves. Good food, great service and it was clean!

We have done Split Rock a couple of times, but our first time at this lighthouse. It was fun to walk out on the pier and check it out up close, and watch the ore boats load across the bay.

The Lighthouse is a B&B but the harbor is great for seeing the ships at the ore docks loading! When we walked down their we seen a deer grazing in the tall grass :-)

We stayed at the lighthouse on the night of July 4. Even though it rained off and on, it was so nice to be a quick walk down to the harbor. We watched the fireworks over Agate Harbor from the pier. It was beautiful.

When you stay at the lighthouse, you also receive free passes to tour the Historical Museum, which was interesting. Plan on 30-60 minutes depending on how much you read. Passes to the tugboat. I don't know how long it normally is, we had four young boys in our tour that I think prolonged it (too long in my opinion, especially when I was wanting to get checked in and relax a little before the evening festivities). It went on for about 1 hour 20 minutes. (Compared to a 1 hour tour of an ore ship in Duluth that is MUCH larger.) Access to the lighthouse tower 24/7, and passes to the 3M museum (the only thing we didn't do).

When checking in, if you get no answer to ringing the bell she is probably out showing another guest around the grounds. Go to your right around the lighthouse to access the outbuildings to see if she is there. The first building is actually the gift shop, and the separate, private room you can also stay in. Someone will be there, but won't know know where she is.

Breakfast was very good in the morning. We enjoyed out time visiting with the other guests. You do share a bathroom. We stayed in the Keepers Room, which overlooks the lake as the back of the lighthouse faces it.

It was expensive, but how many people can say they have stayed in a lighthouse.

Even if you are not staying, the view of the lighthouse is very good. You can pay to go up in the tower if you like. There isn't a lot to see, basically a square tower, with the light at the top. It was cool looking out the porthole like windows over the grounds and lake. You do not get to tour the quarters unless you stay there.
