“Love Bob's Cabins!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2013

This is one of my favorite vacation spots. The cabins are older but great. I especially love being so close to Lake Superior and the rocks. Have been visiting there since I was a kid. It is great fun to stay in these cabins and be so close to the lake.

Drove from northern Wisconsin for a day trip to Two Harbors, Minnesota. Decided to stay for the night, and by chance stopped at Bob's Cabins. The cabins are older, but well maintained. They are clean and comfortable and sit right on the shore of Lake Superior. They bed was very comfortable. The view is great. We had a huge rock outcropping for our shore line. There was a bench and a firepit right there for our use. They have kayaks available for guest use.
The owner, Bill not Bob, gave us a recommendation for dinner that was spot on. The Lighthouse at Emily's just down the road at Knife River offered good food and drink.
If you stay at Bob's, be sure to ask Bill for an AARP or senior discount if you are in that age range : >)

Room Tip: By chance we were given a one room cabin. It was a good value, and perfect for our needs.

Year after year for the past 6 years we've been at this place. The cabins are always impeccable, there's heat (just in case Memorial day time is still cold) but no A/C (you won't need it) or TV. The small office room has board games and books you can borrow. Kitchen is well stocked, but expect everything including the dishes to towels in the bathroom to be cabin quality only. If you are expecting Westin quality, carry your own. The surroundings are so serene you won't want to leave the place at all. We do a long distance drive to get here, and usually the keys are in the cabin when we arrive late in the night. We've had coffee looking at the tranquil lake, done yoga on the tallest rock just to the sounds of the splashing water, read a book to the sounds of seagulls and just lay around there hearing the lullabies of the water.. usually we book a cabin by the water and waking up to the nature sounds.. nothing beats it. All the tension knots on the shoulders just melt away with this mental massage. We do a bonfire by the water at the nights (you get wood for a few bucks right at the cabins) and do marshmallows or sip hot chocolate watching the sky n the endless watch. It's just so romantic for the nature-lovers.
I had to post this review at least now and quit being selfish :) Two Harbors is hidden gem waiting to be explored. Those that knows to respect nature should check this place out and leave it unaltered for the future generations to enjoy the beauty as well.
And while you are there, check out the nearby Pie place (within 5 miles I guess), it touts the pies are world-famous (for a good reason), you'll know which one I'm talking about by the sheer number of cars parked out. Last but not the least a trip for us is not complete without a lunch at Lemon Wolf Cafe. (My review for that will follow shortly.)
See you at the Bob's soon.

Room Tip: If you get a room that's advertised as Close to water, you are right on it. So if you have very...

I stayed here by myself ten years ago...it was magical. No TVs, kitchenette is very basic as is bathroom, etc. BUT you are right on the beach...all you hear are waves crashing, families/friends laughing @ the bonfire (but only until 10 p.m.)...hike all morning on the superior hiking trail and read all day on your beach porch or on the rocks below. cute little library for the patrons...it doesn't get any better than this if you want to escape reality, be somewhere completely safe and be "unplugged." Couldn't stay on this trip to the north shore...so, my advice to you would be: BOOK EARLY!

We rented a small cabin here last summer. We had a view of Lake Superior and our own space on the lakeshore. They had free wood available for campfires on the rocky shore of the lake. That was our favorite part! Seagulls came by each day. My daughter enjoyed feeding them. There is so much to do in the area since it is near several state parks. There is a great grocery store not far away, so it is very easy to get groceries and cook meals in the little cabin kitchen. (Or you can go out, if that is what you prefer). Bob's also provides a grill. The cabin itself was clean and rustic. We loved it there! Make sure you get up early one morning to see the sunrise. Spectacular!

I can't say enough about Bob's cabins, we enjoy long quiet weekends here at least three times a season. The views are great, and unbeatable. The cabins are simple but very comfortable, the library is full of great books to read, we enjoy being able to "unplug" from everything and hear nothing but the crashing sounds of the waves.

We took our pre-teens with us on one of our stays and I thought they were gonna lose it when they found out they did not have t.v. or phones, but they still talk about the fires we had on the beaches and love to go back to Bob's.
