“Water slide a treat”
Reviewed 11 September 2007

Stayed 2 nights while installing our son at Macalester College. The water slide was better than I expected to find at a hotel pool. My wife and I hopped over to Target to buy bathing suits. It will not replace water theme parks, but it's fast, twisty and fun.

Everything about the hotel was completely satisfactory. Room very clean, bathroom nice, personnel friendly and helpful.

Breakfast, while not elegant dining, served the purpose nicely. Got very crowded Sunday AM; probably just a case of everyone showing up at the same time.

We plan to stay again when we visit in Oct.

  • Liked — Water slide at hotel pool way above what I expected

We stayed at this hotel during my son's weeklong stay at wrestling camp. The hotel was awesome. There is a spiral slide in the pool which is well cared for and looked after by the staff.

The staff made this hotel great to stay at. It was always clean and everyone was super friendly. There is a hot breakfast served every morning. You may to have to warm things up but it was all great food that was extremely helpful in the early mornings.

We are starwood members and usually stay at sheraton properties. Country Inn & Suites compared evenly if not better in some instances. For the money it was a great stay, well taken care of and super friendly i cant say enough. hope this helps some other families.

This hotel is conveniently located off the highway and is within a short distance of many dining choices.

The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful, even bringing a roll-away up to our room. This was especially thoughtful because I did not request the roll-away when I made the reservation and she was the only clerk on duty at the time.

The pool is on the small side, but the main attraction is the water slide. It's a pity that it is only open on the weekends because that will be a deciding factor for future bookings. The hot tub was comfortable and accommodates about 10-12 people.

The breakfast was filling and the breakfast area was competently staffed.

The furnishings and decor were pleasant and inviting.

I personally thought that the beds were comfortable and even the roll-away was comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and stocked well. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated.

We could not hear any traffic or outside noise, but we could hear muffled hallway noise. The noise was audible, but not annoying.

The brand-new Country Inn and Suites in Vadnais Heights was a disappointment. This started when we arrived and learned that one of the key features (at least to my kids) was not open -- the waterslide in the pool area. It was open only for a few hours on Friday evening, all day Saturday and again on Sunday morrning. Asked why, the two guys standing behind the desk said, "Staffing issues." When it was open, it was "manned" by a 16 yr old girl who spent her time either (a) on her cell phone, or (b) in the hot tub. It's dubious whether any staffing was needed, but if it was, $10 per hour to have it open every evening would not be too much to ask.

The pool itself was cold, and the hot tub not much warmer.

The breakfast was paltry by comarison to the Holiday Inn Express just down the road, which is again where we will stay when visiting relatives in the area.

The hotel is new and looks nice, but is not up to snuff. The beds are uncomfortable, the rooms small and the pillows woefully inadequate. All in all, a very disappointing stay. The Holiday Inn Express in Vadnais Heights is easier to get to, nicer, and staffed by friendlier folks. Stay there -- and no, I don't work for them.

Our Pool Temperature is constantly set to 82 Dergees, the reccomended temperature of a hotel pool is between 79 to 82 degrees. The hot Tub is allways set to 101 Degrees.
Our 90 foot Water slide has specific hours that it is Open. Friday nights 5pm-10pm, Saturday 9am to 10pm and Sunday Mornings 9am- 11:30am. These hours are posted on every website, printed materials, at the Front Desk and in the pool area of our hotel.

Our beds are all new being a new hotel we have the Sealy Serta pillowtop mattresses on every bed. I personally think these are above and beyond in comfort than a regular hotel mattress. Our breakfast is a continental breakfast which has a variety of selections that includes Waffles, Hard Bolied eggs, Yogurt, 4 choices of cereals, with three juice choices. This by far outshine our our nearby competitor. We have a very profesional staff that is genuinely here to cater to all our guest needs and we are proud to have a 92% guest satisfaction rating.

Reviewed 16 August 2006

I have stayed at the Country Inn in Vadnais Heights, MN twice in the past month (July and August 2006). Both times it was for tournaments at the National Sports Center in Blaine (soccer, hockey). The NSC is about 15-30 minutes away, depending on traffic. This hotel just opened in March 2006, and is very clean and new-feeling. There were several sports teams staying there at the same time we were there , but the rooms are extremely quiet, well sound-proofed, and we didn't hear a thing. The free breakfast was what you'd expect, cereals, bagels, hard-boiled eggs. The extended-stay suite (our friends had that room) is extremely comfortable, with two queen beds in a fully separate room (not a "fake suite" with just a partial wall). Also has a small dining area and a living room area. The regular rooms were comfortable, with an average amount of space. Beds are comfortable, with mattresses that feel new (which they practically are). The bathroom and hallways are spotless. The staff was very helpful, and were flexible beyond our expectations with our group. We didn't know for sure how many nights we needed, due to the nature of the sports tournaments. They allowed us to cancel past the deadline, once we knew our team was eliminated. As I was travelling with a toddler, I also appreciated the access to the breakfast room, and the milk dispenser, which was available 24 hours a day. The pool is very fun for the kids, with a fairly good-sized indoor water slide. The receptionist did point out, however, that the water slide is not always open during the week, just on weekends. They opened it specially for us. If you will be there on a weekday with kids, you might want to confirm with them that it can be opened for you.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. For the price, it is a great bargain. Many of the similar-priced hotels closer to the National Sports Center are smoky and dirty. This hotel is sparkling clean and shiny new. A bit of a drive to the NSC, but just minutes from a large shopping mall (Maplewood Mall) and lots of casual dining.
