“Lunch with friends”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We had a very enjoyable lunch with friends. It was difficult deciding on what to eat as there was such a good choice of dishes on the specials board and on the menu. Our choices of the scallop and prawn ravioli and the salmon wrapped in pancetta were very tasty and we would highly recommend them. The staff were all very helpful and polite. We were able to sit outside and enjoyed the boating activity going on on the waters edge.

“Nice position overlooking the marina”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We went for lunch & sat by the window looking out over the marina, as others have said, it is a bit noisy inside, not a great problem though. We had their homemade burgers which were very good & the beer was well kept. It's a little on the pricey side & my only gripe was that when paying by card you are presented with the message: Do you wish to leave a tip YES / NO ?
I hate that & think it is a cheek.

“A table for four? No problem, it's reserved for you.”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

A business associate and I were in Cornwall to have some meetings and, after a long drive to get there from the Midlands, we were keen to have a pleasant evening with some good food in a quality atmosphere.

I 'phoned a friend' and invited her and her husband to join us and they suggested picking us up and driving us to the Castaways. I am so glad that they did.

The welcome was warm and friendly and, with our table prepared, we ordered and the evening just got better and better. With starters and mains we didn't really have room for a sweet but we persevered and that was well worth the effort too!

All in all and rewarding experience and certainly a restaurant I shall return to again and again.

“disappointing”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Used to be one of our favourite restaurants and was first choice for taking visitors - but haven't been for a while. Went their last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. He had the ribeye steak and asked for it medium rare. When it arrived it was so rare that it was barely warm in the middle - certainly not medium rare. When we mentioned it, the waitress had to find out if they could do anything about it. No-brainer! She came back to say that they could and when it came back, it was marginally more cooked but still oozed blood. I had fish and chips. Soggy batter and the skinny fries quickly lost their crunch. The waitress asked my husband if his meal was alright but totally ignored me. Also, they don't seem to know the difference between lemons and limes - as requested in a drink! Won't be eating there again. It's a shame as the setting is lovely.
