We have been going to the Chequers for over twenty years now, and it is certainly at it's best currently.
Our visit this week was with friends with whom we meet up with every few weeks for dinner locally.
This was our first visit as a group, and everything was fine, the waitress was an absolute delight, but there was one serious problem.
The music within the pub was excessively loud and even after it had been turned down a bit it was still far to loud, and made listening to our dining companions difficult at times, as we all had to raise our voices.
It is unusually cruel to force people to listen to music that they would not normally choose to listen to.
It is unlikely we will use the chequers again for our monthly dining.
