Easy to get to, and the drive from the bottom of the hill to the top is half the fun. Once you park at the top, a short walk (wheelchair accessible) to the lookout. Definitely recommended, either as the first thing you do upon arriving in Winona or the last thing you do prior to leaving.
The only thing that could possibly improve Garvin Heights is a funicular railway.
Driving up to Garvin Heights is good, but if you take the trail (there is parking near the beginning of the trail) up, it is totally worth it! It has some great scenery, cool trees to climb, amazingly restored prairie land, and very cool geology!
Worth the trip up to gaze down upon this river town.
Very popular place and the handy plaques let you know what you are looking at.
Must do in Winona.
My husband and I drove up to Garvin Heights for the view of Winona down below. You will see why it's called the "Island City". Quick drive..great view! Def recommend it for anyone.
