The view was terrific, but the restaurant and bar themselves are really a dive. The place is run down and the food was truly disgusting - worst meal I've ever eaten. I ordered the beef tenderloin with hashbrowns. The beef was tough and the hashbrowns had a bizarre consistency and an odd chemically taste. How do you mess up hashbrowns? They tasted like they were freezer burnt or reconstituted from dried potatoes or something. I'm glad that we tried it out, but definitely would not eat there again.

The location itself is worth the drive. Eating a wonderful meal while looking out the window at a lit waterfall makes this a valentines day treat!

This is great place to have a romantic dinner with a table close to the window. If you go close to sunset you will have a spectacular view of the water fall with the sun setting into the bluffs.
Warning, the place looks like a dive at the front entrance, but has good food and good ambiance once past the door.

We have only gone to this restaurant on Sundays and eaten their buffett. Always a nice variety of salad, entrees, etc. and great homemade desserts!

Five miles south of Winona, MN and two miles up a scenic valley road is the Pickwick Mill, a wonderful historic mill that is open for tours. It mills and sells stone-ground grain while you watch and smell the process. It's got a mill pond, a water wheel, and a waterfall, all in a granite block building.
Just downstream, with a great view of the mill, is the PIckwick Inn. The inn is a typical small-town bar. The dining room is the room with the view. About six tables, old folks and families with kids, all seem local.
The food is OK, but not spectacular. We went because we read about the "frogs leg buffet", and my wife is crazy for frogs legs. The buffet was otherwise ordinary, much fried food, decent long-cooked ribs. You know: Pickled beets and chocolate pudding on the salad bar...
The desserts are home-made, apparently by the waitress, who just might be the owner. Great pies, wonderful cakes, rhubarb cobbler. So browse the buffet, have a few frogs legs, and head for dessert, all while watching the waterfall and the mill wheel, and while watching and being watched by the locals. Welcome to Lake Woebegon, SE Mn style.
