We weren't in the mood for Italian, but we couldn't find much else in the way of non-chain/fast-food so we decided to give it a whirl. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed. I had the lasagna. It had so much cheese melted on top of on it that I could barely taste anything else. Every bite tasted like I was pulling the cheese topping off a pizza and just eating it. Once I successfully dug through the cheese to find the tomato sauce, I was hoping I'd be impressed but the sauce itself was pretty tasteless.
My husband had the Mama's hot sub sandwich. He is the ultimate meat eater, but he said there was so much meat on it and it was so salty that it overpowered any other ingredient.
We went to use the bathrooms at one point and they weren't the cleanest. There was something wrong with the toilet, and the person before us that used it went up to tell them about it. There was no one in the front so she explained it directly to the person in the kitchen who was making all the orders. He, along with the servers, joked about what they might have to do, "go in there with a glove on". I know with small family businesses everyone needs to be a jack-of-all-trades but it just wasn't something you want to hear from the person preparing food.
If the food would have been better, I would have let the other stuff slide but all in all the experience wasn't a good one.
