“Ancient site worth your time!”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

We stopped by the Visitor Centre first and were treated to a story telling of Kings and Queens and ancient myths. The staff was so helpful and gave us directions for exploring the site. The land is beautiful, the mounds ancient and the people around the site are friendly and helpful. Don't miss this amazing piece of Irish history!

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

The Visitor Centre will be much improved when the upgrade of the exhibition space is complete in April 2014. The site itself is massive and entails driving to various points to grasp the enormity of the 5,000-year-old earthworks. Accompanied by the Educational Officer who detailed the facts and the myths on a wet, wild and windy day in late February, the history and ongoing research was explained with great charm and aplomb.

“Close Your Eyes; Imagine Kings and Queens”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

Stop at the Cruachan Ai Heritage Centre to pick up a map and driving directions first, then explore the lovely rural boreens into the lush hillsides and visit the storied earthwork monuments of a time of kings and queens. Learn the mythology of the epic "Cattle Raid of Cooley," and the folklore of the magical Cave of the Cats. The Rathcroghan Royal Site will take your imagination to places it has not ever been. “Excellent!”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

We stopped on our way back from westport and were a little disappointed that the exhibition wasn't open at the minute. They are undergoing a major upgrade at the moment. But the tourguide gave a great presentation nonetheless. We'll definitely be coming back for the opening of the new exhibition in April!
