Owner description: We invite you to enjoy all that makes our museum unique: the artists, the architecture, the history, and the landscape. The Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art celebrates the innovative, independent and creative spirit of our namesake Mississippi master potter George Ohr. In a fitting tribute to Ohr, artist and architect Frank Gehry designed an award winning campus of bold intriguing self sufficient structures. The campus consists of our Mississippi Sound Welcome Center, three art galleries, the reconstructed home of Pleasant Reed, and our City of Biloxi Center for Ceramics. These buildings and the exhibits therein offer visitors separate but not isolated experiences - together creating a single unified vision connected by the expansive brick plaza and the majestic Live Oaks.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Activities for older children, Activities for young children, Stairs / lift, Bathroom facilities

The Ohr work was interesting, but the collection was quite limited. The museum is working on a building where they will house the collection in the future, but when that future will be is unknown currently.
The African-american collection was lame.
The museum had a gallery for an artist showing, but this changes frequently.

We liked what we saw so far...looking forward to stopping again when the "silver pods" are finished. They will contain the permanent display of Ohr's work. If you are really into art and architecture it will only take 1-2 hours. We were there 1 hour. The view from the top of the welcome center was great. We have small children, so we purchased sticky mustaches in the gift shop and put them on all of us. Then we took our picture throughout the galleries. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They have a nice studio space that you could see summer classes for children going on.

An interesting short stop; cool architecture attracts you to come inside! the pottery is beautiful. Special art shows also were unique, featuring Mississippi artists. Also enjoyed the Pleasant Reed Interpretive center on the grounds - the home of an ordinary former enslaved person typical of what life was like for so many families after the Civil War - it was touching and definitely worth a visit and the small price of admission. Specials for students, military, seniors, etc etc etc

Such a cool story of the "Mad potter of Biloxi". Many folks seem to not like the design, but I think those people are not the type to enjoy this museum at all.
