My friend and I drove to Clarksdale for a spontaneous night of blues. What we failed to do was make any kind of reservations before we arrived.
There were many of the standard motels available, but when one goes to the home of the blues, a boring room doesn't really enhance the experience.
We found the Hooker Hotel which, along with the Squeeze Box and Delta Digs next door, are former store fronts that have been converted to amazing apartments right in the middle of town, within walking distance of all the clubs.
If I were designing my own small house, condo or cabin - I would do it EXACTLY like this. They have really thought of everything.
The beds are comfortable and the linen and towels are high quality.
The kitchen is perfect, down the the retro refrigerator.
Photographs do not do the decor justice; truly one of the coolest places I have ever stayed.
Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
We were there in March for the Clarksdale Tourism office new location opening. We had not been to the Hooker Hotel and knew nothing about it. However, John (owner) let us stay a second night. We are hooked, it was so clean and comfortable and everything we needed.
The décor and Johns rustic taste was something to see. The bottle tree over the front door window was my favorite, besides the metal tin that was the shower ! I plan to stay there many times !

So fun to stay here! Wildly comfortable beds - slept so well. Clean, funky, excellent attention to detail throughout. Management was friendly, efficient and full of useful local knowledge. Best coffee I've had all trip from the cafe on the corner. Absolute winner.
