I booked a room through Priceline at the Fulton Sands Motel in Fulton, MS. The pictures and reviews at the time I booked looked nice. We only needed to stay one night as we were going to the Dr. David Jeremiah rally in Tupelo on Thurs., April 25th, and didn't want to spend much. This was about 30 minutes away, but thought it was worth the drive to save some cash. This room was only 39.99 a night so we thought it would be great. WRONG!!!! We have low requirements, but this was even below our low standards. When we got there, we paid for the non-smoking room and went inside. It smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke and other strange smells that we could not identify. It was dark even with the lights on in the room and it looked nasty even though it was tidy. We knew we could not stay in there. I went back to the front desk and the man was very nice and gave me a second room to check - but sadly it was the same, but the room was smaller even. The smell was the same. So, I had to go back and get a refund. We simply could not handle it. The people running it were very, very nice, but there were no other cars in the parking lot, so that is a red flag already. I want to warn others not to waste their time with this place. They should go to at least a Motel 6 if they are trying to save money, because at least it is a chain and have standards. We ended up at Motel 6 in Tupelo, and it was clean - and only 16 dollars more. Plus it was close to where we were going.
