From the moment we stepping into the lobby until we left, a few days later, to return home, the staff made us feel like long lost friends.

When we wanted to go somewhere, they gave us perfect directions and suggestions.

Everything about our experience made us smile and we're still smiling as we remember our time there.

The next time we visit Greenwood, it's the only place we'll consider staying.

We spent one night at The Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood. Never again. The Hotel itself was clean and well cared for BUT the food was appalling. We booked a meal in the main Restaurant for the evening we arrived. I ordered half a chicken with a green salad. My husband had steak. I had eaten a couple of mouthfuls and was about to take another mouthful, but when I dug my fork in red blood oozed out. It had not been cooked completely through. It was very off-putting. The chicken was taken back to the kitchen and ten minutes later it was brought back out to me. This time over cooked and dry. My husband had finished his meal while I sat and waited for mine. We had expected bread to be put on the table BUT instead there were individual wrapped packs of crackers. Perhaps you might expect to get crackers in a road-side diner, but certainly not in that type of Hotel. Unbelievable. The next big disappointment was the breakfast. The room had no atmosphere whatsoever, bare tables and a miserable choice of food. Appalling. Breakfast is always something we look forward to on holiday and sets you up for the day ahead. All-in-all we were very pleased to leave.

Room Tip: Rooms are fine but the food is dreadful

This was a gorgeous hotel & the rooms were exquisite. The bed is plush & comfy. Hot breakfast buffet was included, & had great selection. Aside from the Viking cooking school and store across the street not much was going on in Greenwood during our weekend stay. We were surprised to find many stores were closed on Friday afternoon & Saturday morning.

First let me say that the good at the hotel restaurant was great. Service not so great. The Viking store and school were fun. We did the Vegas steakhouse class, it was fun but not really a class. Everything was premeasured and there was really little to do other than put stuff in oven. As for the Alluvian not impressed. For one the bed sagged in the middle making it a very uncomfortable sleep. It needs to be replaced. The rooms were not to special not much different than an average hotel but at a much steeper price. Probably will not return as there is nothing to do during the day unless you are at the spa. Every other building on the block is pretty much empty.

Thanks for the great dinner and evening. It's not often in the Mississippi Delta you come to such a little jewel. Mr. Mac the bellhop is a awesome guy! Make sure you go across the street to the Viking store.
