Stayed here through Hurricane Issac. Had an amazing stay. The staff over all was very friendly. Free very good wifi and a hot breakfast every morning. Close to a lot of stores to include a strip mall. Natasha works at the front desk and is a huge help if you need to find your way around. Thank you for everything. The pool is a little small and the hot tub was not hot. If I can only say two bad things about the place must be great hotel!

I really didn't know what to expect when guest services/sales mgr. had changed a week prior to my family's arrival; but all was well & we were received in a courteous, cordial, & hospitable manner. I would like to commend Mrs. Joann & her staff on going the extra mile to ensure my family & all their guests were A-ok @ all times. Some amenities down the line may need some up-grading, but overall; your service & welcome mat to all who stayed from July 26th-29th, 2012 was bar-none. This hotel met and exceeded my expectations. The cleanliness, the hospitality, food, and the overall atmosphere was just absolutely great. We went here on our church trip and there were no complaints from anyone. Absolutely one of the best hotels, if not the best, in Gulfport. We will definitely stay here any and everytime we (church or personal) visit Gulfport.

Situated a little out of the way from most of the Gulfport hotels Magnolia Bay Hotel and Suites is a decent hotel at a decent price. With a cost that was noticably cheaper than other chain hotels in the area and a complimentary breakfast... What's… not to love. Indoor pool and hottub, workout room, laundry and dining close at hand. Room was comfortable with a king bed that slept like a dream, standard tv (not flatscreen but who really cares) and a seperate living room area with foldout couch. Now one other plus was they sold sodas by the bottle by the front desk. They weren't jacked up overpriced bottles just a buck and a quarter plus tax. They didn't nickel and dime like some super deals just a clean room with a slighlty cosmopolitan feel (cool color scheme). I recommend them and will go back if my travels bring me to the Gulfport area.

Room Tip: First floor 112 was directly across from laundry and pool. but it was VERY quiet!

This was a very enjoyable and comfortable hotel. Well decorated inside and out. Clean throughout. Friendly staff. Our room, non-smoking on second floor, was exceptional. Two very comfortable queen beds, a sleeper sofa, double vanity sink, heavy furniture, nice office desk and chair.
Coffee brewer, frig, and good climate control unit.
Rate included a breakfast buffet consisting of numerous breads, eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, potatoes, pancakes, coffee, and juices.
The elevator suffered a mechanical breakdown the morning of our check out. The staff was all over this problem quickly.

Room Tip: Ask for room near elevator if on higher floor.

This is a recently refurbished hotel just west of Gulfport on Interstate 10. We found the accommodations to our liking so we stayed there again on our way back home from Texas.

Magnolia Bay is a simple, clean hotel. Not a lot of frills or luxury. You will find some nicks, dings, and foibles around the property. Everything was recently painted and new carpet was laid down in the rooms and common areas. It has a contemporary look to it. Rooms were large, newly re-furnished, are equipped with a microwave and a mini fridge. The King Room also has a sofa bed. Sleeping was comfortable and quiet. Curiously, despite the renovations the rooms still have plain old 20 inch televisions. Unlike the previous reviewer we had no problems with the wifi - - but then again we were on the first floor.

The bathroom was fine and the hot water shower strong.

Magnolia Bay has an indoor pool and jacuzzi. The water was clean and warm. Nice after a day's worth of driving.

There are no restaurants close by (except for the previously mentioned Denny's) so it might be best to catch dinner on the way. The hotel offers a hot breakfast which we found to be very good. Unlike some hotels, the hot entrees were prepared in small batches so they were always fresh. Because we ate early both mornings, not sure how it stands up with a breakfast crowd.

The Front Desk Staff (Christine) was quite friendly and helpful and she readily accepted the discount coupon from the Interstate Travel Magazine. Since this place is about half way between our Florida home and our Texas destination we likely will stay here on our next trip.

My husband and I are in the middle of schlepping the Uhaul across the U.S. so our hotel needs may differ from the norm. We really wanted a hotel that was (a) convenient to I-10; (b) clean and not scary; (c) located within walking distance of a sit-down restaurant; and (d) free wi-fi, parking, and breakfast.

Crystal Inn (now renamed Magnolia Bay Hotel and Suites) met most of these expectations. As previous reviews have noted, the drive into the hotel is dark and somewhat seedy looking, but the hotel itself is newly renovated and looks fairly nice. The breakfast is free and adequate. There is a Denny's and Waffle House within reasonable walking distance. We were very disappointed that despite the renovations, the wi-fi is still not working (seems to be an ongoing problem, as this was noted in previous reviews as well).

Overall, a reasonable stay. Didn't knock our socks off, but it wasn't bad. More like 3.5 stars than 4, I think.
