“Excellent Eats”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013

So sad to hear of Ms Leatha's passing. The food and service are excellent. Puiled pork, ribs, slaw, potato salad, you name it... it's all delicious and the best around.

“Sad News in Hattiesburg”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2013

Saddened by the recent death of BBQ legend and founder of the restaurant that bears her name. "Miss Leatha" Jackson at age 90. A wonderful country woman that mastered the art of southern barbecue and shepherded a rustic little family business into a well known attraction in Hattiesburg. She will be missed. God will have a special place for this good woman.

“I Agree!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2013

Yes, yes, yes!! I agree with all the positive reviews! I was there for the first time today. When you go don't expect a sophisticated atmosphere. We're talking bar-b-q down home style...that means rustic! It's all about the food and Leatha's knows how to do "q". I had a pulled pork plate with slaw, beans and potato salad. The platter comes with two sides and bread, but, I had to try the potato salad. It was all good! The slaw and potato salad are prepared with some mustard which I normally do not care for, but, Leatha's slaw and potato salad are great. The pulled pork was was perfect. It was well smoked, moist and mouth watering. I loved the sauce...a sweet North Carolina style. Huge portions...for $9.99 I had enough left for a doggy bag. Here's a hint...the pulled pork was served steaming...the leftovers were enjoyed several hours later and after resting the pork was even better. The server was sweet and attentive. All I can say is Leatha's is all good. Try it, you'll like. One piece of advice...when go do a good driving direction search...I am very familiar with the Hattiesburg area including the western H'Burg/Hwy 98 area and I had a hard time finding Leatha's...the bulding sits well off Hwy 98 and is not visible from the road...there is a large red roadside sign. When you see the Dairy Queen just east of Gravel Pit Rd you are there! Enjoy and save some for me!!

“Ole timey BBQ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

Don't let the look of the building fool you. They are not pretensios by any means. They just serve great BBQ with a friendly southern smile. They are a little pricey, but the place is full and you leave witha full belly so it's worth it. You also have to look to find this place, which also tells you how good the food is. They don't have location or a good looking place. Just a great menu and a clean building.
