While on the Blues Trail, we stopped for lunch at Crown. Wow. What a delicious, friendly experience.

The owners and their family are very friendly. They asked where we were from, and then sat down with us and told us of other places to visit on the trail.

The food was delicious. They pass around beer bread (that you can buy the mix for in their shop) before your meal arrives. The catfish salad is superb, as was the blackened catfish. If I lived in this town it would be a place I frequented. Very economical and quality meals.

Let me just say the catfish Allison is one of the best dishes I have had in a restaurant. Hot fresh beer breads delivered to the tables, yum! Limited eating hours, but worth planning your time. I spotted this place after searching on trip advisor to see where we could eat lunch when coming home from the delta. So glad we stopped. Gift shop, art work, history...all in one building. Also, for $2 add the dessert table to your meal, have some free coffee, and try some pie! Delish! Super friendly waitresses and owners!

Passing through in January. It's Cold and Wet. Being through here many times in the past, I know of the ample variety of local eating establishments. Question & Answer = The Crown. IMO .. There is no better place to spend an hour for some mental relaxation and no better place for a lunch. Catfish on a sour dough bun .. OMG .... It's no truck stop diner or some yankee hash house. This is a lovely sampling of Mississippi's "Delta Charm." All run on the "Honor System."

To start, an old lady greeted us and seated us in the dining area. She offered us complimentary corn bread which was homemade(delicious!). She asked if we were from out of town and we said yes. She left and brought us a few brochures of the area. She was extremely friendly. We then ordered; I had the catfish salad with the chicken and sausage gumbo soup and the wife had the chicken salad. Both were great. I wouldn't say that the gumbo was the best in the world, but it was indeed very good, not too spicy and had a good roux in it. The staff was very professional and friendly. Be sure to stop in!

The Crown is OK...but it certainly is not distinctive. You can find similar fare in dozens of other southern lunch spots. If you are a 'foodie', Nola should be your choice. If you like predictable and traditional grub, grab lunch at The Crown.
