This misbegotten disaster is a monument to indifferent management, to clueless city and state inspectors, and to the Econo Lodge corporate suits who allow this mishmash franchise to continue.
The night clerk is pleasant but feckless. We were able to inspect two rooms vs one, due to his inability to distinguish between one and two beds. Both rooms greeted us with the stench of years- old, ground in, smoke ... this, the "non-smoking" section. The hall rugs may have been vacuumed occasionally, but clearly not deep-cleaned since the building opened. There were two bath towels (only) in the room, giving us the eery feeling that it had been "occupied" between guests.
It is clear that the resident manager had not deigned to step into a guest room often... if ever. There was no evidence of an inspection system; burnt out lightbulb, unconnected lamp cords, dingy paint, pink streaks in the bathroom of indeterminate origin, the list goes on.
All in all a total loser. When in Picayune, run the other way .... any other way.More
