“Great for photography!!!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Even though this military park is small they have a lot of great buildings and museum pieces. The buildings make great backdrops for pictures. There is also an old cemetery on the property that is cool if you enjoy that type of thing, which I do. You can climb up an observation tower and get a view of the Mississippi river. The admission at this time is $3.00 for adults, and $2.00 for senior citizens. Well worth the price!!!. The staff in the museum/visitor center is very friendly and helpful!!! They have a civil war ambulance on the property that I found pretty cool being in the medical field. Also while in the area check out the Windsor Ruins and if hungry the Old General Store.

“A Hidden Gem!”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

Of all the Civil War sites I have been to, this takes the cake! The drive is a bit long and we started to wonder if we had made the right choice to visit this place, since the backroads seemed to stretch for ages, but hang in there! Keep going and eventually you will see signs. The visitor's museum is packed full of memorabilia from the past. For such a small place, this museum had some of the more remarkable artifacts I have ever seen. After you buy the tickets, you drive around the area, visting many old structures along the way. As you work your way up the mountain (hill), the confederate cemetary emerges and you can't help but feel the serentiy and sadness of an era long-gone. After the tour, you have the option of driving straight out to the Mississippi River. Unfortunately, you can't dip your toes in. Last, you can follow the road to the last fort (also peacful and serene.) This was such a wonderful place to visit.

“Very Worthwhile!”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

Read about this attraction in a Vicksburg tour book. It is quite a distance off the beaten path from Route 61 and well worth the effort to find them. Upon arrival we were greeted by the Museum employees that were very informative and friendly. The museum and grounds have many interesting artifacts about the Civil War period. The Mississippi River is within walking distance along with documentation regarding the historical levels the river has achieved. Highly recommend this venue. Very interesting.

One of the high points of our Mississippi trip, this off the beaten path battlefield park was well worth finding. A very informative Park Ranger gave us a wide range of information on the area and the Civil War battles to control the river. The museum and grounds were first class. There is access to the river with a nice view. An eazy drive down from Vicksburg and we found it with no problem using the GPS. It cost us $5--$2 for a senior, $3 for a young wife.

“Exceptional photo opportunity”

We loved this park. Very we'll maintained and picturesque. Couple this with a tour of Windsor Ruins for a good historical tour of south Mississippi.
