hubby and I stayed here while in Mississippi in late April 2014 dodging storms/tornadoes. when walking into the hotel without a reservation (nicely dressed, great attitude) we were told that if you didn't have a reservation you had to use their computer to make your own reservation. truly - I didn't think I had heard them right and confirmed, and they stated their general manager had said they could NOT enter a reservation for anyone NO EXCEPTIONS - that the customer had to get online and do it themselves. NO JOKE! I was told it was their policy. so they sat us down at their computer for us to enter our own info - seriously.

The staff was really nice, they were apologetic and appeared very embarrassed. Hey GM - Hyatt has a reputation - you don't pull this crud and call yourself a Hyatt. I have stayed in tons of hotels, and at several "Hyatt House" and "Hyatt place" locations - and never anything like this.

Apparently, as I was told the next day after asking two other people if this was really the policy (I didn't want to write a bad review if it was one lazy employee) they have had problems with walk-ins refusing to give them info when entering them into the system - so the GM's response was to treat all walk-ins like 3rd class citizens. A more professional approach would be that if anyone refuses to give you needed info THEN you ask them to make the reservation themselves, but not everyone. Heck, you can ask for a driver's license and credit card up front before entering info and that has everything you need - and if they won't give it then have them make their own reservation.

To me this makes me concerned about the policies and procedures of the hotel itself - it speaks of poor judgment in the field - it is called the "hospitality industry" for goodness sakes. I wouldn't trust anything else here because of this.

the hotel is lovely, and the rooms very nice. the breakfasts was one of the most sparse offerings I have seen at a hyatt, even the hyatt place and house house locals, and perhaps this speaks of the GM too. room was very clean, and had lovely linens, but the bathroom floor and shower tile had not been cleaned well over time and showed over average grime and they had resorted to "painting" the grout lines to refresh them - never a good option, it stands out like a sore thumb and decreases the other lovely features of the room.

Everything here was great. Friendly staff, very clean, nice, large room with comfortable bed. Great deal for the price. For most hotels like this you would pay $200+. They will also let you request what floor you'd like, and I requested to be on the side away from the interstate so it would be quieter, and they were happy to oblige. Hassle-free booking and check-out, and they don't try to stick you with hidden charges. Will be back!

This is the top of the line in the Jackson Metro area. Point blank!!! Ultra quality for the Jackson Metro area. There is nothing better!!! I've tried everyone in the area. The breakfast is unreal here! Super clean & ultra modern. It has a Swiss feel to this place.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms that face west! There is nothing better than a top floor & west view at this place!

The Southern U.S. is full of wonderful small cities and towns that are a secret to non-locals. Ridgeland, MS is one of them. A very affluent town, it is located just outside of Jackson, Mississippi and a scant half-hour drive from the impressive Vicksburg National Military Park, on the amazing Mississippi River. It boasts many first-class hotels and restaurants and the Hyatt is one of them. Located within walking distance to an upscale outdoor mall with many "name" shops and outstanding restaurants, and literally right across the road to the major businesses in the area, which include financial services and banking, it is in the perfect spot for shopping, eating and doing business. The rooms are gorgeous and extremely well-appointed, with an excellent complimentary breakfast. There is plenty of parking and the staff are extremely helpful. It has a full bar and a café. The cost is quite attractive too, as in most larger cities, the same room in the same hotel would easily be double the price. It is a beautiful place, right off I-55 and minutes from Jackson and an easy half hour ride (at the most) from the airport. Stay here - you'll be glad you did!

Room Tip: They're all good.

Clean, large rooms. Walking distance to great restaurants. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. new exercise equipment. The large TV with HD channels are always a plus. The free wifi was fast and easy to connect to. Hot breakfast had plenty of selections, coffee was good, hot and strong.
