“Nice”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

This place is nice for special occasion dining. Appetizers were as great as the service. My main entree was the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp w/ grit cake, this is not to be confused with shrimp and grits. The shrimp were ok, but the grit cake is something I'd never eat again. My suggestion is to stick to what you know. No suprises. Overall nice fancy spot.

“2nd time was as good as the 1st”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

This was my second dining expereience at Mint. The first time i was traveling alone on business and it was excellent all the way around. This time I was alos traveling on business but I brought my wife and 1 month old baby out with me. I was very pleased with how seamless the accommodations were for my family. The staff was great nad the food was Amazing. I had the turkey sandwich and shoestring fries nad my wife had the spinach salad with grilled chicken.

“excellent food, just missing something”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

We stopped in for Sunday brunch and were told it was a 15-20 minute wait, though there were lots of empty tables. After leaning on the wall for 5 minutes or so, the hostess said, "There's actually no wait for a table in the bar if you want to eat there." If you have been to Mint you recognize that the bar and the rest of the restaurant are virtually indistinguishable from one another, so of course the bar was fine with us. The bartender waited on us and did an excellent job; we shared a delicious calamari appetizer and both had seared tuna salad with crispy garlic, shallots, and chili aioli, which was one of the best tuna preparations we have had anywhere. Had a very nice reasonably priced glass of Pinot Noir. All in all, it was a very pleasurable brunch, food and service wise, though there's still some pulling it all together yet to be done as far as the finishing touches that take a restaurant from good to great.

“Below Average”
Reviewed 12 July 2013 via mobile

Restaurant used to be nice and enjoyable. Had dinner with my husband early on a Thursday night. Temperature was uncomfortably warm. Waitress was horrible; she started out great then seemed to completely forget about the 2 tables she was serving. Redfish was edible but drowned in butter. Turkey sandwich was nothing special. Will not return.

“A Wasted Evening.”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

Our large culinary group dined last night at Mint with a pre-arranged menu. Everyone took the time to dress in cocktail attire and meet with an expectation of well-prepared food as we have had at other venues around the Jackson area. As each course progressed, it became obvious that they would all be equally poor. After plates of crostini were passed, we were seated and served a "BBQ Shrimp on Parmesan Grit Cake" which were two overcooked shrimp on a very lackluster and chokingly dry, undercooked cake. Any home cook could have easily prepared this dish with great success, and that's what made it all the more pathetic. Next course was a "Duck Confit Chile Relleno." Deconstructed, of course, which made it a spoonful of filling on a slab of mushy green chile. Next was a "Porchetta with Beets and a Pecan-Crusted Goat Cheese." Their "porchetta" tasted nothing like porchetta should, and it was served piled on a bunch of spinach which was supposed to have had some vinaigrette; very unappealing and ill-prepared. The very worst course was the next, "Boullabaisse with Truffled Asparagus Slaw." The chef proudly announced that he was able to get monkfish that day for his boullabaise. It would not have mattered what fish it contained because it was cooked to the point where the fish turned to mush in a thick tomatoey slop that in no way resembled a delicate boullabaise. Raw asparagus served as a garnish. Go figure. Next was a "Beef Tenderloin with a Blue Cheese Pot (Potato) Pave." This was served on a very small glass salad plate as were most of the other dishes. The beef had a nice smoked flavor but was so overcooked and such a poor cut that it was on par with all the other courses leading up to it: a big disappointment. Last was a chocolate cake which any home cook could have made. This was a four-hour dinner served with some nice wines, but this restaurant took complete advantage to serve us the most ill-prepared and low quality food for the price we paid. The service was haphazard: a few courses followed others immediately, but most had inexplicably long waits.
