Description: Fun is a family recipe. Originating in Starkville, Mississippi, The Little Dooey™ has become the most popular barbeque destination in the region, attracting regular, local diners and guests from all over the country. The menu was created around the time-honored recipes and sauces of the founders, Margaret Ann , Barry & Bart Wood. The name for the restaurant is also a Wood Family tradition where “a little dooey” means a fun gathering of friends and family. The Wood’s began The Little Dooey™ in 1985, by serving their homemade barbeque and sauce at a local service station. The response from customers was overwhelming, and soon the growing local demand for their delicious food prompted them to open the first restaurant in Starkville which became an instant success. The Wood’s credit their accomplishments to their family, friends and dedicated staff who set The Little Dooey™ apart, making it a comfortable and fun place to eat. Don’t forget to pick up some sauce! Or, call us to order your favorite.

We were concerned about visiting on game day, but we didn't have any problems getting a table. We ate at 1 pm, well before the game. The service was prompt, and the food was very good. The Italian sandwich is very big and so is the salad. There's plenty of parking across the street if you need it. The prices are reasonable.

The university's salad place was closed on the day of the orientation!! Usually a univ town dosnt have much to offer as food but this was a surprise find thru' internet. A totally unassuming place with college students as work staff, an informal pre-ordering system. You are skeptical about what to expect-wait till the food arrives- then you are blown away by the sheer deliciousness of rightly BBQed food whether its fish or chicken, everything was the best you could expect at the price. Had my son and his roomies along with me and all we spent was 50 bucks! A great feeding place for out of town parents and locals alike, much better than other southern food places in town. There was a old gentleman sitting in the parking lot who wished us, seemed like he was the owner. Its great if he could get such service and performance out of kids.Highly recommended!

What it evident when you walk up and see a line out the door? That this place is a favorite place in town. We waited about :20 just to place our order. It's NOTHING fancy. You order at a busy counter and take a number to your table. If you've ever been to The Varsity in Atlanta, you get the same vibe! You also know that everything there is fresh when you see that some menu items are sold out! I ordered the fried shrimp basket and I was immediately taken back to our favorite beach shrimp shack! It was fresh off the boat...well, about as fresh as you can get when NOT on the coast. I ordered a side of turnip greens (which I thought were too salty) and some potato salad (which I thought was delicious.) My husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of slaw (which was yummy.) We also shared a sausage on a stick. Wow! That was amazing. I wish I had saved room for dessert. We ended our dinner by taking a few minutes to sit on the front porch swing.

The barbeque sandwich and fries were great and affordable! We also got pie that was okay, but the rest of food was great!

We visited this restaurant based on recommendations from friends and we were not disappointed! Ribs, pulled pork, even the seafood were all freshly prepared and very tasty. Staff was very friendly. This is truly a don’t miss place!
