This was a great place! The people were friendly as is to be expected in a southern, historic hotel. The rooms are very small but I guess that is part of the historic charm. The outdoor restaraunt was quite charming. The ambiance was superb! I would give 5 stars but the following morning as we went down for breakfast, it took forever to be served. I think they were extremely understaffed as this was move in day at MSU. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel for others.

Hotel Chester was a wonderful surprise for me while traveling on a business trip. This place is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are expertly decorated, the historic charm is wonderful and really sets it apart from the surrounding locations, and the beer garden is a nice retreat from the norm. The bed was incredibly comfortable and made me want to lounge around all morning! Everyone here was very friendly and helpful and really made this stay a delight. I would recommend anyone traveling through Starksville to stay at Hotel Chester. Only con to this stay would be the lack of workout facilities, but the hotel will provide you with a pass to the college.

Room Tip: Choose a King Suite for the best possible stay

Have had the pleasure to hold three business meetings at the hotel. The staff provided a meeting room, drinks, snacks and lunch. All of which were outstanding. Dave and his staff made everyone feel welcome.

The Chester is an old hotel that has beautifully renovated. Our room for my wife and I was spacious with a couch and a very comfortable bed and immaculately clean (as is the whole hotel) The room comes with breakfast and not just "a corporate waffle" found with the chain motels, but prepared by a chef from a very nice menus. At $125 a night, it is so much more pleasant than staying in one of the corporate motel chains for the same or even more per night.. David and the staff make it a personally satisfying experience. We really like this place. Also location is perfect for walking access to the boutiques, restaurants and shops of downtown Starkville and only 5 minute drive from MSU.

This place spoiled us! The staff was so understanding when we had to delay our arrival (American Airlines SNAFU) by 24 hours. We had a lovely queen-size room, but when David heard that we would be returning later in the week, he offered us a larger king-size with a veranda view and easy access to the Beer Garden. The breakfasts were always good, and the morning cook worked us into an early schedule with no fuss whatsoever. The Beer Garden staff was delightful; the "Crooked Letter Brewery" sampler is high recommended, although the wine and bar drinks are good as well. We spent three more nights at Hotel Chester and loved every minute. Great people. Attentive service. Charming decor. AND they provide a thoughtful and warm welcome.

Room Tip: The veranda rooms are lovely and quiet, but don't discount the charms of the rest.
