“Super Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

We got a two room suite for three nights for a total of a little over $100 (utilizing a "B connected" casino card for $5 a night off). I'm sure we received an unexpected upgrade from their standard room. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The typical amenities were present in the room and refreshed daily. I was somewhat surprised that noise was nonexistent considering this was attached to a popular casino. I do wish that the hotel utilized a water softener system as I always felt that a layer of soap remained on my skin.

The restaurants are in the casino area. We utilized the buffet twice. The food was good and included beer and wine. I particularly liked the Cork'y Bar-B-Que section of the buffet. My only disappointment would be that there were no dry rub ribs.

When we arrived, the hotel entrance was not well marked nor is it clear how to valet park when staying in the hotel. When we asked at the front desk what the procedure was to valet park to check in, the response from the front desk personnel was less than helpful or hospitable. The entire property seemed to be bare bones staffed. Some staff members cleaned while talking on their cell phones in the bathrooms while others congregated their to gossip. Other staff members seemed bothered to help you while others could not have been nicer.
On the positive side, the hotel and grounds where clean and the room was very nice. In addition, the wifi was awesome in the hotel. We never lost a signal or had a problem with speed (other properties could learn from this). The lunch buffet was ok but nothing special. All things considered our stay was not unpleasant but not unforgettable either.

We stayed 3 nights at this Hotel, it has been totally remodeled, clean and the rooms are quite large. Ask for the 8th floor in the newer section, it's quiet and you have a decent view. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. The only downfall was the machines were not as friendly as the employees, but we had a great time anyway.

Room Tip: Ask for the 8th floor facing the parking lot and the other Casinos

We arrived the day before Christmas Eve, the desk staff could have been a little more welcoming. I was expecting a parcel, but they couldn't find it. We went back the next day and a different receptionist said if there was one it would have been sent up stairs, at least she bothered to look and go fetch it. The room on the ground floor was good, nice towels and a good bathroom. We did quite well at the casino. Overall I wouldn't go back, the other casinos seemed livelier and offered more choice of eating, entertainment and casino games. We stayed 4 days over the Christmas period and the rates were fantastic.

It had been several years since I had last visited Sam's Town. I used to stay there on a regular basis. On my next trip to Tunica I will stay someplace else.

The main problems with the hotel are the older rooms and the hotel's cleanliness. They need attention and an update. The bathroom showers are narrow and there was mold in the grout and on the ceiling. Several floor tiles were cracked, the carpet was stained, and the television was not HD. In addition to the older rooms, housekeeping was poor. We stayed three nights and on the third day housekeeping did not even make it to our room. We had to call and ask for service. When they did come on other days they left no fresh soap or laundry bags and they didn't clean the bathroom floor (I noticed the same soap wrapper and talcum powder footprint for three days). The entire hotel seemed dirty. All the carpets need vacuuming and it looked like the elevator had the same dirt on the floor all three days we were there, not to mention the spilled drink stains on the elevator doors.

The buffet was mediocre. Smokey Joe's, the late night snack bar looks like it could use some remodeling. All florescent light and plastic. The casino itself is not bad but I noticed a lot of the video poker machines at the bar were old and had sticky buttons. The staff on the whole was friendly, especially the ladies at the casino rewards desk and in the cashiers booth. The bartenders and casino wait staff were friendly too.

I've been staying here almost monthly. Very pleased with staff, housekeeping, front desk they always have been so accommodating to me I can't complain. Will definitely recommend. They only thing I wish they had was a microwave in each room, I've always had a fridge otherwise very pleased.

We stayed at Sam's Town for 4 nights. An ice storm caused major power outages in the Tunica area. Sam's employees and managers were right on top of it. It amazes me that the slot machines are kept running, I guess on generators, but the hotel part was sans power. Two days of No hot water, no maid service, no electricity, no heat. There was no heat in the casino either. Some people were playing slots wrapped in blankets. Luckily we had our cellphones for light/flashlight to get to the bathroom. Our room was pitch black. The buffet was kept open, but we ate on paper plates, plastic ware. Limited food selection, but was passable. The employees were informative, polite, upbeat. I sympathized with some of them for having to drive in to work on the icy roads. Other than the power outage, for half our stay, we liked the hotel/casino. The lobby has been remodeled since our last visit. The gift shop is now at the front door entrance area. The little snack bar is now huge, with booths and counter space, open 24 hrs. The best part of the buffet is the Asian station. Fresh hot food cooked in the wok right there in front of you. We love the casino because they have a huge selection of Keno machines.

Room Tip: I could tell our room had been remodeled. New carpet, nice headboards, comfortable chairs, and a f...
