Single stay overnight

Single mid week stay at the Holiday Inn before going onto Darlington. Nice hotel and room fine. Clean, tidy and large enough to feel spacious. Restaurant/bar was also pleasant. A couple of beers and a club sandwich was welcomed. First staff member I spoke with had a face like stone and clearly didn't care. The much younger staff member I spoke with second was really nice and able to put her personality into her job.

Have stayed here a lot recently and every member of staff could not have been more than helpful and welcoming. They always said hello with a warm smile on their face - treated me like a member of family

Stopped here for one night on the way home, staff were great. The room was very comfortable, and a lovely bathroom. The food in the restaurant was good, only fault found that the vegetables need a bit more cooking, the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.

Had to go up to Faverdale for a two day course. We stayed over the night here purely for convenience. Company was paying so we knew it wouldn't be the Ritz but overall it was a nice little hotel and the rooms were very quiet considering we were perched right along side the A1. The rooms had exactly what you would expect as in small bathroom/toilet, TV, tea/coffee making facilities, iron & board (although my iron was faulty so had to call reception for a replacement which they duly delivered which was also faulty so ended up using me mates) and a decent sized comfy bed. Free wi-fi which is always a bonus but the phone signal was pretty poor. However to be fair to the hotel the phone signal in that entire neck of the woods was dire at best. It has some exercise facilities on the ground floor if you so desire. Into the bar / restaurant and there is a fair selection of beers either on tap or bottled. Guinness was £4 a pint which for a hotel is about the going rate (give or take a few pence). I was drinking Black Sheep ale and needed a few to get over the shock of £5.20 per 500ml bottle. Wine was another killer at £6 for a 250ml glass to go with my meal and that was one of the cheaper glasses. Food is also a bit pricey. Again company gave us a £25 allocation which is why I chose the steak but at £24 I definitely wouldn't have paid for it out of my own pocket. Breakfast own the morning had everything you wanted from cereals to fruit to continental to the full English buffet. Free tea and coffee so all in all a fair deal. If you choose not to eat in house there is a maccies approx 100 metres away as well as a subway so all's not lost. Would I stop here again? Yes if it was another company stop over. Would I recommend it? Yes if other business users were after a convenient stop over.

Dear slackmat74,

Thank you for the feedback.
We are pleased that you would recommend us to others.

With regards to the prices in our restaurant and bar we really are priced in line with the local hotel market and in most cases we are slightly cheaper.

Your review is much appreciated as we always take on board constructive feedback from our guests. Thank you once again for letting us now your thoughts.

We had booked a disabled access room which turned out to be on the ground floor. The room was up to standard with plenty of room to use a wheelchair and the bathroom had a walk in/wheel in shower. The bed was set up as we had requested and was very large. Everything was very satisfactory. The staff were both friendly and supportive. In the evening we went into the diningroom after a large party had left. The staff warned us about this previously. the food was reasonable. We both chose steak and ale pie which tasted as it should. The mashed potatoes were not very appetising and the roast potatoes were overdone. However, the meal was adequate. But the loud sound of crockery and cutlery being removed after the large party had left was more than we liked. To add insult to injury we were given our wine in tumblers as they had no wine glasses left. This could have been dealt with by putting the wine glasses through the dishwasher earlier. No marks for this!

The following day we had an excellent breakfast after the coach party had left and all was quiet. That evening we used the diningroom again and the service was completely different. We chose fish which was salmon and it was excellent with the remarkable tasting new potatoes on offer. Our dessert was good too. The bottle of Prosecco was divine! The following day we left for home after another first class breakfast. We recommend this hotel even though we felt it was below par the first night in the diningroom.

Room tip: Room 19 is good for disabled guersts and it has a door to the next room for a separate carer.

Stayed here for two nights as in area visiting family. Booked purely because it was dog friendly. We were really impressed by the hotel itself. Hotel is in good condition and looks new and modern. Room was comfy, with king sized bed, air con, lovely bathroom with nice shower.
We were made to feel very welcome with the dog, lady at check in went out her way to make a fuss and welcome us. Dogs are allowed in reception and the bar area just not in restaurant I believe.
We could hear no road noise even with windows open. The hotel has good access back to motorway.
We will defiantly be back on next visit to family!

Thank you for the lovely feedback.
We all love dogs at the hotel and only ask that a few simple rules are followed to make sure that all of our guests have a pleasant stay.

Responsible dog owners and their pets are always very welcome. We hope to welcome you back to stay with us again.
