The room at this holiday inn was very clean and had a nice view to the nearby fields. Very qyite as well. The food however was very average and not much value. The other problem is that there only a McDonald's walking distance from the hotel. If you want a decent meal you will have to drive into town.

We stay regularly in this hotel when visiting friends. The hotel is well located to access the North East and just off the A1. There is a McDonalds next to the hotel if you don't want to eat in the restaurant but you are also very close to Durham which is good for an evening. The hotel was clean and comfortable and we would definitely recommend. There is ample free parking on site.

Review is about the restaurant not the hotel. My wife and I have a tendency to dine at Holiday Inn should there be one in the vicinity of wherever we happen to be as we have never had a bad dining experience at any Holiday Inn restaurant and the one at Newton Park was no exception. We had a delightful meal, my wife having a Chicken Caesar salad with anchovies which is unusual and which I got to eat whilst I had the Haddock and chips followed by a summer 'Eton Mess' type dessert. Good wine if a little expensive s wines tend to be in hotel restaurants and the waitresses were all charming and amiable. Would not hesitate to return if in the area again.

Was a very big room, nice and clean, lovely shower with seat, food was nice I had fish and chips and hubby had special mince onion pie gravy and peas. Reasonable priced. Restaurant was lovely and clean staff were very welcoming. X

Overnight stay returning from Scotland the holiday Inn was just off a Truck stop and McDonalds not much else there.
part of the package was an evening meal and breakfast the evening meal was rather lacking and didn't eat the main course to give credit to the staff the did offer an alternative. The dessert was spot on though. all the staff were great the bedroom was a great standard obviously more in tune with business people.To sum this place up it was a relaxing stop over and a very good hotel.
