“The best St. Louis Airport Full Service hotel....”
Reviewed 18 October 2010

I stayed one night at the Hilton at St. Louis airport because it was immediately adjacent to the Hertz rental car return and I was able to walk from Hertz to the hotel. I liked my stay though there were a lot of things that went wrong that you'd expect perhaps from a new hotel just getting going, not one that's been around a while. It's not a "perfect" hotel but it's very nice.

The front desk staff were all wonderfully friendly and helpful. The two women at the front desk were in good spirits when I checked in and happily changed my room from the first to second floor, and changed some of my preferences successfully. Another woman the next day was helpful sorting out some travel issues.

The hotel is a maze and it took me some time to get oriented. They gave me a room in the back tower on the side not facing the airport access road, and it was amazingly quiet. The room was well appointed with a nice desk/workstation, large bathroom, and very comfortable bed. The bed was excellent. The bathroom was clean and bright. The tub though was worn and an anchor or something was almost poking through the basin of the tub which meant it was not smooth. Water pressure was good and the water was hot.

Relatively quiet air conditioner/heater which worked well.

Other service was pleasant but mistakes were made too frequently for me to give the hotel a higher rating. I ordered room service: asked them to replace mashed potatoes with fries, and add asparagus a side. They brought fried asparagus. The woman who bright the food to my room apologized and came back with steamed asparagus and fries, so no harm done.

Worse: I called and asked for a 5 AM wake up call and it never came. I had set the alarm clock and my phone alarm as a back-up and am glad I did.

Fitness center is above average and I got a good workout with dumbbells (up to 50 pounds). Business center is very good and there was no charge for internet access or printing.

I had breakfast in the restaurant which opened at 6 AM (a big plus as I had an early flight). Very nice buffet. Service in the restaurant was slow: I think the hostess did not show up for work and they were improvising. Still, the food was excellent and they were friendly and apologetic for the delays.

I never stayed at a Hilton before and WOW was I NOT impressed! The lobby was nice, at first I felt like I may be a little out of place. Apparently they spent all their time and effort in doing up the lobby and havn't done much in terms of updateing the rooms. It was a clean place but not what I was expecting in a "Hilton". The staff was very friendly, saying "Hi" at every encounter. I coudn't believe they charged for everything under the sun!! $10.00 a night to park in addition to the room fee, internet was $14.95 a day and didn't work. We called 6 times to find out the problem and finally asked for a refund. Drinks/Snacks in the lobby were over $2.00 for little things like candy bars and 12oz drinks. I was looking at things to watch on t.v. under pay per view and the t.v. said to click menu to go back to t.v. channels which I may add were very few (like 10 channels that were fuzzy), when I clicked back to t.v. channels a porn flick came on and charged me $30.00!! I called to cancell and they acted like it was my fault, but I was just following instructions on the t.v. They did have a business center which was FREE to use but the computers/printers were broken....go figure. I'm surprised they didn't charge to breath there...lol. I think you could find a nicer hotel in the area for a much better value. I will not stay here again.

The service was great - staff was friendly, but I had issues with the wireless internet in the room. I was upgraded to the executive level, but found the room to be the same as the one my colleague was staying in. The lounge was also small and was only open at specific times of the day. The hotel shuttle to the airport was convenient and the breakfast buffet was quite good.

absolute waste of time and money considering we didnt even stay one night and was told we wouldnt be charged for anything by management and come home to find out that they took $30 out of my checking account for "differentials". we talked to management to tell them how HORRIBLE the staff was and all the hidden charges for ai mmentities that they say they have. it was a $15 chrg for refridgerator per night, which most hotels come standard with them i.e drury, holiday inn, marriott, ect. but not HILTON I havent even got started, also $10 a night for parking, $10 a night for internet usage in our room, and not to mention the fact that they still had access to my bank account when i didnt even stay with them and waited till the next day to TAKE $30 of my money when i was already down the street (not even a block away) at the DRURY INN which for the same price, we recieved friendly service, free parking, hot bar for breakfast AND dinner, 3 drinks per night, free refidgerator AND microwave in room, free long distance, free internet in room! no joke. meanwhile the HILTON was charging my bank account and said it was to make sure we had money on our card! seriously! im appalled and i am waiting to talk to corporate to get my money put back in MY account (which clearly had money in it) considering they TOOK some out. they say its $30 to $50 for everyone, so do your homework folks so you dont go through what we went through. we were there for the 5th annual USAAA conference so we wanted to be convienent, but never again. the conference was great! if you or anyone you know is affected by autism i would recomend you attend, but please dont stay at the HILTON because its convienent its just not worth it thank you

We stayed at the Hilton Airport in mid September. We booked through "Stay and Park." The Hilton is one of several hotels near the airport that allows you to park for up to 8 nights for free in exchange for staying at the hotel. Really, this is very good deal. The intermediate parking at the airport is $9 per night, so for about $40 more than the cost to park your vehicle, you get the night stay and shuttle to and from the airport. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes and it is 5 minute ride from the hotel to the terminal. We checked in fairly late on a Monday evening and the check in was fast, friendly and efficient. They had our reservation, directed us to the room and suggested where would be best to park. The room was clean. Nothing spectacular as far as accomodations, but fine for a short stay. The bed was not especially comfortable. It was obviously an older mattress and was sunken in towards the middle. The halls are decorated with some older TWA photos and memorabilia. The lounge area was spacious and looked inviting. Our stay really didn't allow us to do much more than sleep and shower the next morning. We were in the lobby checking out prior to 7:30AM and the shuttle driver loaded our bags and took us to the airport. We returned eight days later and the shuttle collected us at the airport terminal. Our vehicle was as we left it, the shuttle driver dropped us at the car and helped unload our luggage. We drove out of the lot with no hassles whatsoever. Everyone we spoke with was very friendly, but our stay was brief. I would certainly recommend staying here for both cost and convenience if you are planning any type of lengthy out of town trip. Just knowing that you will be in time for your flight, not stuck in traffic and not fighting the construction in the St. Louis area makes it worth the cost of the room.

I was at the Hilton -- St. Louis Airport and we loved it. The staff and managers were all very polite and professional. I would recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here in the future if in the area. I was here for an AE / AOE Sailors Reunion. I would like to take this opportunity to commend and thank employee Mr. Robert Stubbs. He worked the dining hall in the mornings and was always so friendly and delightful. He surely is an asset to this hotel. The rooms were beautiful.

Let it be known that I have worked for the Hilton Corporation. So now that I do a lot of traveling, I'm usually pretty lenient when it comes to what I encounter on the road. I know what it's like to be behind that desk!

Having said that, I have no problem saying that I did not find a SINGLE polite employee at that hotel. Front desk worker (I believe her name was Meg) checked me in and checked me out two days later. Her attitude was awful and she acted like I was a huge waste of her time. As a Gold VIP member, I was on the executive floor. The hallway air conditioner was broken and the actual lounge never seemed to be open.

Our first morning, we were jarred awake before 8 AM by the building fire alarm. In my bad luck, this is not the first time I've stayed at a hotel when this has happened, but the staff at each hotel were quick and informative, to put guests' minds at ease. We were usually comped something as well... something small, like breakfast. However, the staff here did not handle it at ALL, let alone well. There was a large group of people behind the building just standing out there in their pajamas with no idea what was going on. Guests were never given an explanation.

We spent two hours sitting in the empty restaurant for lunch. There were only a few tables and also having worked in the food industry (I've had a lot of jobs, haha!) I would have been able to understand if there was only one server on bustling around trying to keep up. However, there were at least 5 or 6 different servers sauntering back and forth ignoring everyone. Trust me, we were not the only table to ask the host "Does anyone work here?" Then the food was mediocre and cold, but also pricey. I wasn't really shocked.

Later that night, we got in very late because we had been at a festival all day. It was after 11, but we hadn't had dinner yet so we decided to order off the late-night menu, which only offered very few choices. Still, we were hungry and decided to split a ham sandwich. When I placed the order, I was told it would take 30-45 minutes. I was thinking to myself, "45 minutes for a sandwich that is probably pre-made?" But I didn't worry about it.. it gave us each a chance to hop in the shower. Over an hour goes by and we're falling asleep, so I called down to get a timeline. Whoever answered told me that it was on its way as we spoke. However, it was still another 20 minutes before it got to our room, which leads me to believe that they never intended to bring it up unless we called back. On top of everything, it was the wrong sandwich. Not a huge deal, but after the rest of the stay, I just couldn't believe it took them an hour and a half just to bring the wrong sandwich.

However, I do want to end on a high note. The hotel itself is beautiful and in a GREAT location. $10 a night for parking isn't too bad either. The rooms were beautifully decorated, PERFECT water pressure, and the most comfortable bed. These things were definitely silver lining, but I will never recommend the hotel. They aren't worth the awful service.
