“Excellent B & B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is the second time we have stayed at Cedar House. It is an excellent B & B, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the breakfasts are delicious. We will be back again I'm sure. Mel goes out of her way to be friendly and helpful, it's very much appreciated.

Room Tip: We like room 2 as it has wonderful views.

We recently stayed at "The Pippins", a self catering cottage within the grounds of Cedar House. from the warm welcome to the friendly goodbye we enjoyed our stay. The cottage was extremely clean and tidy (no unwarranty clutter like many self catering places), with a good range of pans, cultery, crockery etc. The cottage is very spacious for just two people, with plenty of storage space in the bedroom, kitchen and hall cupboard - there is no possibilty of "cabin fever" even if you end up staying in because of the weather.

With easy access to the grounds of the main house, it was wonderful to sit and watch the sun go down over the Brendon Hills and Exmoor, and watch the coast of South Wales become a series of twinkling lights. For railway buffs the West Somerset Railway runs past just a field away - it was great to stand and watch a steam train go past about 10:30am each morning, a nice hot cup of coffee in hand!

The only improvements we could think of (and they are very minor) would be a few more coathangers in the wardrobe and a new bench directly in front of the cottage to replace the rather warped "heritage" one.

We will definitiely be back!

We did not really know what to expect of this B&B as our two night stay was a gift but we did not expect anything quite so nice as this place. The house itself was very nice, being in a quiet countryside location surrounded by pleasant gardens. Our double aspect room was delightful, comfortable, pleasantly decorated and absolutely spotless. From our window we had a view over the rolling hills of the region to the sea beyond.
Breakfast was freshly prepared from a generous menu, included several local products and cooked to perfection.
There was a relaxed family run ambiance about the place with a very cheerful hostess, Mel, who was very welcoming, friendly and eager to offer advice on the locality such as the best places to eat, of which there are many. It's good walking country too – weather permitting!
We usually prefer to stay in different places each time but in this case our stay was so nice we have already booked a return visit.

Room Tip: Although there is an option of twin or double beds, the owner is happy to put the twins together if...

Had a two night stay at Cedar House on 16th/17th May 2014. The owners Mel & Rick were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. We had room 1 and the room was exceptionally
clean and tidy and very comfortable. There is tea/coffee making facility's (and biscuits), TV, bedside alarm clock and hairdryer. We had plenty of towels and even a selection of shampoo/shower gel and soap. The garden at Cedar House is beautiful and the views from the garden and our bedroom windows were just magnificent. Breakfast time was also a highlight with plenty of choice from cereal, toast, fruit juices and the delicious full cooked English breakfast. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and we will be recommending a stay to all our family and friends and of course we will return to Cedar house for another visit when we come back to Somerset. Thanks Mel & Rick you really made our weekend special.

Set in a lovely location with far reaching views over the hills & sea. Bedroom was a reasonable size. Bathroom was a little dated & the shower didn't have enough pressure. Breakfast was nice & seemed to use a lot of local produce. A nice B&B and reasonable value for money.

Stayed at the Cedar House with my wife in May 2014. Everything was of significantly high quality and standards, you can really see where the team have put the effort into making your stay relaxing and pleasurable.

The house itself is set with wonderful scenic views over the valley. A well-presented, comfortable room awaited our stay.

Overall, we were very, very pleased with an excellent accommodation for our tour of this beautiful part of the country, and look forward to a return trip soon. Great job guys.

My wife & I stayed 2 nights at Cedar House run by Mel & Rick. We had room No. 1 which was clean, tidy & well presented. The bed was very comfortable with 2 pillows each, there was tea/coffee making with a kettle & biscuits, a TV & bedside alarm clock, there was also a hairdryer & a two seater settee.

The room was en suite with a toilet, basin & shower, there were enough towels & shampoo etc if you had forgotten something.

The breakfast is a highlight, I had the full Somerset fried breakfast which was divine & a great start for the day. There was also fruit juice, cereal, toast etc & homemade jams too.

The setting is in a beautiful part of Somerset & on a hill, there are views to the sea, in land to Exmoor hills & the West Somerset Steam railway goes through a nearby field, what more could you want.

Mel & Rick are fantastic hosts & they have made Cedar House our destination of choice when we visit Exmoor, we have never been disappointed when we have stayed there & I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for an up market B&B in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 & 3 have the best views of the sea/hills/steam railway
