We booked this hotel with the Silver Dollar City/White Water Package. We did have other choices of hotels, but were convinced by the promise of a completely new room in their second building that was supposed to be completed about a week prior to our arrival. We also liked the thought of a hot breakfast included and an outdoor pool for our daughter.
When we checked in we were told the rennovations on their 2nd building were not complete and we were staying in their main, old, outdated building. Since it was already paid for, we couldn't change hotels. We were told the beds/linens were brand new and the rooms updated. I will give them the beds, but the rest was a mess. There was an old smell in the room, wallpaper peeling from walls and recepticles that were not fixed to the wall properly. Even the ironing board had a cover that was too big and further wrinkled the clothes! At least the beds were comfortable-right? The best was the soap dispensers on the wall by the sink and in the shower-like a gas station. You will have to pay extra if you want conditioner or lotion...
Breakfast was horrible! They have an automatic pancake machine where you have to wait in line, press a button, wait about 5 min and 2 pancakes fall on your plate. Never seen anything like it-kind of weird. The eggs must have been instant and they really don't refill the bread and english muffins provided at the beginning of the morning. The dining area was packed and food was a tier above disgusting. We wound up going out to breakfast the remainder of our stay.
Last and final issue was the outdoor pool. I never really understood where the outdoor pool was. I think it was outside of the 2nd building we were supposed to stay. The staff made it sound like it was useable, but I would have no idea how to get to it. Luckily our daughter was so tired from White Water and Silver Dollar City it really wasn't an issue. Just a disappointment.
We wound up leaving the night before we were supposed to check out. Since everything was already paid for in the package we purchased, the staff didn't even ask if the stay was good. Obviously their attitudes match the accomodations. Next time we will make sure to go to a higher caliber hotel and not participate in "package deals". This is one instance of you get what you pay for...
