On July 22 we spent the night in a 2Q room at this property. Although we had planned to stay in Branson after spending the day at Silver Dollar City, experiencing the traffic backup from Br6anson to SDC quickly changed our minds. None of the properties on the west side of Sliver Dollar City had been strongly recommended by previous posters - so we thought we would chance a property not reviewed.
Shady Acre Motel is a very small motel, probably dating to the early 60's about 2 miles west of Indian Point Road on the south/west side of Highway 76. The rates advertised on the signboard was an enticement to check it out. Because the rooms are small, only a couple have 2Q. The manager offered us a key to the only available 2Q room to alllow us to inspect the room prior to checking in and were pleased to find it to be very clean. There were NO off odors. The beds were a little soft for our taste, but not saggy. We accepted the room for the $43 and much lower tax rate than Branson.
The room had towels and washclothes for 4 which were a good mid-range quality - fluffy and soft. They had special washclothes for removing makeup. The sheets on the bed were also of reasonable quality - NOT thin, stained or scratchy. There was no blankets provided, only the duvet on the bed. The room was equipped with a small frig, microwave and coffee maker - however these items took up most of the space provided for hanging items. The bathroom sink is outside the the bathroom proper and had a large counter which allowed two females to do their make at the same time. The bathroom itself was small with just a tub/shower and toilet...nowhere to hang towels in bathroom. There was a TV with enough cable channels to please a TV addicted spouse and teenager.
The grounds were clean and cute with a small fish pool and glider swing. There was also a very small pool, but would probably only satisfy very young children.
The negatives would be there is nothing within walking distance. Pulling into and out of the motel in mid-morning and evening can be a challenge because there is a slight curve in the road and traffic seems to acknowledge the 45 MPH speed limit as only a suggestion.
About 1 mile west of the motel is a McDonalds, Arbys, Sonic, Pizza Hut, and Wal-Mart.
We found the accomodations to be great for a one night stay. Although the accomodations are average, the cleanliness and price influenced by overall rating.
