“Worth the money”

This Econolodge is a former Holiday Inn that is in the process of being renovated as it stood empty for nine months. We found a coupon for it in one of those giveaway travel books at a rest stop for $39 plus tax, but it is only $54 regularly, still inexpensive for St. Louis. The staff was friendly and attentive because we were there on a very slow night. The rooms on the pool atrium are the ones being renovated first and we had king non smoking that was very comfortable. The pool and hot tub looked clean and they have a sauna and exercise room. They do not as yet have a restaurant on premises but there are several just a few blocks away. The continental breakfast was poor but there was coffee and juice, cookies, melon and donuts. There is still much to do in this hotel, but the price more than makes up for it.

We had the unfortunate experience of staying at this hotel during a trip to a music festival in the area. This hotel is hard to find and believe me it isn't worth the trip. Our rooms smelt musty and moldy. There were dirty towels left in our room. There weren't enough towels in our room and no washcloths at all. There were unidentifiable smears on the tub and shower walls. There were blackish/brown spots on the wall of the bathroom that I hope were mold or mildew. There was mold on the shower curtains. On of the parents found underwear in their room, and some had black mold stains on the ceilings of their rooms. When my husband and son laid down in their bed the headboard came off the wall. The carpet was stained and felt filthy underfoot. The TV had several channels that didn't have any volume and there was no remote at all. Our breakfast the next morning was horrible. One of our parents had to tell the staff that they were out of everything before 1/2 of our group even go their breakfast. The trash can they were using for us to throw away our breakfast trash didn't even have a trash bag in it and you could smell it before you even got close enough to put your trash in it. Also we noticed as we pulled in the parking lot that the Ramada had been removed from the sign at the hotel. I definitely suggest that no one even look for this hotel on the map! It definitely isn't worth it!!

We went to the Ramada in Bridgeton for a cheerleading competition. This was the host hotel. I had read other reviews and thought things would have been fixed. No such luck. Our rooms smelled like mold. There was mold growing behind the door. Our shower curtain had a ton of mold growing on it. Our toilet seat was broken, it was held on by 1 hinge.
When you lifted the seat there was dried feces on the toilet rim...Our remotes had no batteries. The was a bar downstairs that several of our parents tried to visit but were turned away due to a strict dress code on Fri. & Sat nights. But They let in others wearing sweat pants. We felt discriminated against because we were of the wrong color, in this case white...We stayed a second night but at a competing hotel due to the poor condition of this one!!!!!

My husband and I stayed there the other night as kind of a "newlywed getaway". We'd stayed there before and looked forward to swimming, etc.
This time our experience was AWFUL. We called to make the reservation and were told "Oh, enjoy our jacuzzi" but when we got there the same day, the jacuzzi was broken and remained broken. The hot tub wasn't even hot! Our room ceiling was moldy, the roof leaked in the main atrium area and parts of the floor were collapsing. We went to take our kids to the kiddie pool but it was locked and no one could tell us why--they claimed they were working on it although no one went near it the whole time. They had no room service even though there was a restaraunt in the hotel. When we tried to get carry out at the restaraunt, we were told there was a dress code--if someone had told us that in advance we would have packe appropriately! When we complained about that, the front desk told us to go ahead and try again to go get some carry out--they didn't tell us the restaraunt was now closed, so we wasted even more time trying to get some food. This is a discount hotel and they have a restaraunt that doesn't deliver to the rooms, doesn't serve breakfast and that you can't eat in unless you dress up!
We were so mad we went back up to our room to order food from somewhere else--and there was no phone book in our room! We called information only to find out we get charged for those calls. The front desk said "someone should have told you you could call the desk for free information"--NO one did! Also, when we first walked into our room, our heater was in pieces on the floor. We called for service and went out, when we came back they'd left it on full blast and our room was so hot we couldn't breathe!

HORRIBLE hotel--I'm reporting them to the building inspector. This place is falling apart and I wont be surprized if they get shut down in the not too distant future.

NEVER GO THERE!!

I recently stayed at this Ramada with a group of teachers from Kansas City, MO. We were there from April 23-25. While there the rooms were filthy, one of us had a hole in her mattress, there was mold growing on the shower curtains. In front of our sink in our room the carpeting was constantly wet - possibly from a leak. Do not eat in the restaurant. The service was horrible and they seemed to be out of everything we ordered! On Wednesday, April 25 it took us two hours for lunch. We also observed the housekeepers lounging in the rooms, talking on the phones in the rooms, playing cards in the rooms they were supposed to be cleaning, etc. Could be a lovely hotel if they were to get their act together.

I stayed at this hotel for a 2-day meeting in the summer of 2002, and I will never ever stay there again.

The fixtures in my room were well worn, and the rest of the hotel appeared the same. The lights in the conference room we were using managed to operate a breaker every few hours, which then took forever to find someone who knew where to turn them back on.

The restaurant is extremely expensive for what you get, and the motto there seemed to be "service with a snarl".

This is the second time in a row I've stayed at a Ramada and had bad experiences. I think from now on, I'll spend my money elsewhere!
