Very pleasant small facility, nice change from the big chain hotels. Pleasant garden outside, rooms very nice, breakfast available. But what made this motel memorable for me were the actions of the staff and manager when I realized at the next stop in my travels that I had left my Kindle Paperwhite reader behind. That night I called the hotel and the desk person said she would notify the manager and they would look for it. Next morning I received a call from the manager..they had found it and would be very glad to mail it to my home. I gave him my address and when I returned home it was there. I use my Kindle daily and was very glad I did not have to put out the expense for a new one. And to see an example of good people still on the planet was nice too!

The hotel was exceptionally clean, great beds with extra pillows. Two sinks - one instead the bathroom and one just outside of it. More than sufficient amount of towels, a little doggie park to walk your dog right on the property, great security lights and cameras. Wonderful breakfast variety, a reasonable size pool.....what more could you ask for, except a reasonable price and it certainly was. Very well maintained. If you are driving through Cameron, MO, make a point to stay here...it is well worth it. It is a block off Hwy 35, but alittle difficult to see. Do look for it, as you won't be disappointed.

This is a good motel for the money. We liked that it was owner occupied and it seemed well run. The rooms were roomy with a large enough bathroom with the sink both inside and outside, a definite plus. The beds were comfortable enough but to me everything felt a bit on the "clammy" side probably because of inadequate dehumidifying. My teenage daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our swim in the outdoor pool, which was clean and rather deep for a hotel pool (9 ft). The breakfast room was well staffed and nice and roomy. My husband encountered a drunk patron early in the breakfast room and the front desk attendant dealt swiftly with the problem and apologized profusely. I would stay again.

Room Tip: The pool side rooms are quieter.

My family and I were in Cameron, Mo for a wedding and a funeral (the same weekend) in the middle of June. We had been staying at another hotel across the street and we were suppose to be staying 2 nights but were informed that they were kicking us out. We were told there was a glitch in scheduling. THAT IS HOW WE CAME TO THE GUESTHOUSE ACORN INN. WE FELT SO WELCOMED. EVERYTHING WAS EXTREMLY CLEAN AND THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL. THEY HAD A WONDERFUL AREA WHERE GUEST ATE BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING AND THE STAFF WHO WORKED THAT AREA WAS VERY NICE AND ENTERTAINING. WHEN WE GO BACK TO THE AREA WE KNOW WHERE WERE STAYING!

A big thanks goes out to the owners, and staff for making our stay the BEST!

This motel was so reasonable we did not have high expectations, but it was wonderful! So modern and sparkling clean. We were caught in a rainstorm and did not want to continue to KC, this was a great stopover. A quilt shop nearby! Highly recommend.

Thanks to other reviews, we took a chance on staying here - and loved it! Outside it looks like an older-type motel, park outside your door, one story, no interior corridors. The room is a good size with a couple armchairs, desk & office chair, flatscreen TV, nice-size little mini-fridge, and a microwave. A big plus is that there are 2 sinks, one in the little bathroom with tub/shower, the other at the end of the room with the hair dryer & coffee maker. Room is modern, nicely decorated & very clean. There was also an outdoor pool & a nice garden across the parking lot. Coffee always on in the lobby, popcorn in the afternoon, free USA Today. Breakfast was better than expected: regular cereals, pastries, waffles, but also yogurt, fresh fruit, hb eggs, and (best) scrambled eggs made fresh by a cook standing by. Oddly situated - you go through a truck stop/gas station to get to it, but it wasn't at all noisy. Ask for a room on the garden/field side. There's a Subway restaurant right next door, and another restaurant in the truck stop. Paid about $75 plus tax and thought it was a great value.

Stayed here one night on a long road trip. This is an old style motel. I would not have dared to stay here if not for the good reviews on trip advisor.

The room was not bad, but it did have some issues. On our arrival, there was pubic hair on the toilet seat. It obviously had not been thoroughly cleaned since the last use. The rest of the room seemed clean, but the toilet gave a bad first impression. There was also a small patch of mold growing on the ceiling above the shower, and the finish was starting to peel off the faucet handles on the sink. The chairs in the room were also stained.

Then there was the bed. Not good. You could see right away that the mattress wasn't even flat. Rather, there was a dip in the middle. The mattress was hard and we could feel the springs. Very uncomfortable and I woke up with a sore back. The beds had slightly worn and outdated comforters, and the typical older style blue motel blankets. The sheets were clean, and the blankets were double sheeted, which was good. When we were leaving, a couple of the other rooms were open and I could see that they appeared to have newer bedding. So maybe some of the other rooms are better.

A lot of updates have been made. The room had a flat screen TV, fridge, microwave, and newer tub with curved shower curtain.

Breakfast was really good. They had everything you would get at one of the larger chains, but better. Real eggs cooked on the stove right before our eyes, and the gravy was better than any I've had at any motel.

The outside of the motel looks nice, and it appears that they are really trying to make this a nice place. Judging from our room, it has a lot of potential if they make a few more improvements. As it is, it wasn't bad if you need to stay in the area.
