“Really nice cabin. Really.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2013

I chose Fair Winds because of its location--about four minutes from my daughter's camper. I will go back again, won't even see if there are other places I might like better--because how could I?? Fair Winds is clean, comfy, well-stocked. Alison is a gem to work with via email ahead of time. I should have asked how she gets those towel so fluffy. Table is roomy enough for six, so the family joined us for meals. Bed was comfy. Floors are hardwood, so you can see they are clean. Rocking chairs on deck are a nice touch; we sat out there and talked while the kids watched a movie.

Verizon did not work there, but I knew that ahead of time.

Nearby creek is perfect for the kids to play in (bring water pistols or something for them and lawn chairs for yourself). It had rained pretty much, so the creek was running pretty fast and about twenty feet wide. We waded down creek to a flat gravel bar, and the current was safe there for the 6- and 8-year old to go knee deep (their limit in running water). If we'd had younger kids with us, we would have just kept them in the shallows.

Have stayed at Fair Winds on (at least) five different occasions in three different cabins and have always had a great time. We're from Michigan and have friends from Texas and Fair Winds is about 1/2 way for us all to meet. Love it! Always clean, always ready for us when we get there, and you can't ask for better views and surroundings. Would recommend to anyone for any occasion ... and have recommended to several friends!

We just returned from a 3 day weekend and already wish we would have stayed longer. Alas, our kids and work pulled us back. New owners Jason and Allison have continued Judy's tradition and dream by providing an excellent romantic cabin that was very clean and well appointed. We enjoy hiking and there are many places within an hours drive of the cabin. Actually, one could stay at the property and do a little hiking right there. If it's a bit warmer, you can head down to the creek and sit by or in the water for some relaxation. Then, take a whirlpool bath later to soothe any achey muscles.

Room Tip: We stayed in Jude's Dream cabin.

I booked this as a honeymoon stay for a family member, and Judy was absolutely wonderful to deal with. She allowed them to check in early and had rose petals scattered across the room and a bottle of sparkling wine chilling upon their arrival. The couple stayed in Jude's Dream, and said that the cabin was incredibly romantic and loved it so much that they returned for another stay a few months later! So to clarify, my review is based upon the excellent customer service I received from Judy, and on the trip report I received from a family member. After I booked the stay, Judy sent me a beautiful gift certificate and brochure to present to the couple.

We found out about this cool getaway, in 2008 from our great friends..........The end of Oct.,2012 will be our 2nd trip, its beautiful, peaceful, not to mention a great place to wind down, & not think about work or responsibility, just chill & enjoy the surroundings, the big front porch is amazing in the am. and if you want, there's places not too far, if you feel the need to shop for food or a souvenir ? Do it before you go tho, then relax for a couple days, you won't want to leave, believe me, as well as want to come back sooner than later ! Have fun when you go to Fairwinds, check out the website, for all they have to offer, and don't forget the marshmallows :)

Room Tip: The 1st time we all shared a 2 bedroom, one had a jacuzzi, the other a shower, at the "Meadow&q...

Really enjoyed our stay at Hunters Run Cabin. There are few places that are this enjoyable to stay with dogs. Nice location for cabin, surrounded by forest. Lots of things to do outside for a nice getaway weekend. We visited Onondaga Cave SP and Maramec Springs Park, which are both definitely worth a visit. The creek access is a nice bonus. Cabin was very clean, and the provided firewood was a nice touch for an evening campfire. I'm sure we will be back again!

Our first visit was to Judes Dream in 2002 after the birth of our first child. We returned Sep 2011 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The weather was perfect and our cabin was just as we'd remembered it. Glad the guest sign in books were still available for us to look through. {excited to find our sentiments from 9 years ago}. Definitely looking forward to going back.
