“Comfortable and Unique!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

We booked this hotel off of a Priceline Express deal. We got in late after the Cardinals game. Check in was easy. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We all slept well. Our room was right at the top of the stairs 311 I think and I was worried about noise but it was very quiet. The continental breakfast was typical cereal, bagels, fruit, yogurt and pastries. We headed out first thing that next morning, so we weren't there long, but I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for a wedding reception in the courtyard. The rooms at the Seven Gables are VERY nicely appointed - great bathroom, bedding, furnishings. I was in several different room and they all are just adorable and spacious. I stayed in Room 214 and it was very quiet and comfortable. I stayed 3 nights and had a great night's sleep. The food in Molly Darcy's Pub downstairs was good. This property is conveniently located and we walked to several other great restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. Oh! And there are killer chocolate chip cookies every afternoon! Loved this place and will stay here again!

I couldn't be happier with the service and amenities at this hotel. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, with lovely furniture that makes it feel much more like a house than a hotel. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us.

Romantic, clean, comfortable beds, convenient to all of Clayton's restaurants and businesses, and a fabulous staff from start to finish. We can't wait to come back again on our next trip to St. Louis!

I recently traveled back to St. Louis with my boyfriend for Memorial Day Weekend, for 3 nights. Having lived in St. Louis for 3 years, I was familiar with the property, and was drawn to its lovely inner courtyard with beautiful vines - it really feels like something out of The Secret Garden. However, I turned to this property because, to my surprise, it was the cheapest St. Louis hotel option (both the Chase Park Plaza and The Moonrise charged substantially more). Despite loving the courtyard, I was skeptical about staying at the property - the outside of the hotel looks like it really needs a fresh coat of paint and some general up-keep. We were in for a surprise once we got inside. After being greeted by very friendly staff we went upstairs to a beautiful room overlooking the courtyard. The room was quite large, had a very nice, modern bathroom, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. We both had trouble waking up because the bed was so comfortable! The room was impeccably clean, and had plenty of space for us not to have to trip over our suitcases. The one drawback was that the hotel charges extra for parking (which is conveniently across the street). Knowing that parking in Clayton is difficult to find, we paid, but on our second night, the parking was out of spaces, and we had to park in the back of another building. When I mentioned this to the staff at check-out, they happily removed the 2nd night's charge from our bill. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Seven Gables Inn, and I don't think I would want to stay anywhere else during future visits in St. Louis.

I did not want yet another hotel and I failed to find any B&Bs available in the proper, central locations of St. Louis; and then I hit upon the Seven Gables Inn. Somewhere in-between; the inn was perfect with its eclectic, gabled buildings and charming little rooms. Our room was just the right size and the bed so comfortable. The staff was always friendly and ready to offer assistance (or fresh cookies). We will seek reservations when we next visit Clayton/St. Louis.

Room Tip: Watch out for parking tickets! Clayton police carry 2 books for each day's work.

We stayed at Seven Gables Inn for 2 nights while in town for a wedding. We were only 1/2 block from St. Joseph Catholic Church, so very convenient to the church. Short walk to several restaurants. There was an Irish pub, Molly Darcy's, in the hotel - very good for drinks, a little slow with the food service, great band the night we were there. Very large room, large comfy bed. Hotel has lots of character. 3 stories, steep steps, no elevator, so if accessibility is an issue, ask for a room on the first floor. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Steep steps, no elevator. Get room on first floor if accessibility is an issue.

This is a cute old hotel in Clayton with very friendly staff. There is a small Irish bar in front with a couple of local tap handles including Four Hands and Boulevard. The bar also services the inner courtyard, a quaint little area with vines and trees. Our room was just off the courtyard and we were afraid it would be too noisy on our first night, but the crowd dispersed by 10pm.
The neighborhood has several upscale restaurants within a two block walk.
Parking seemed a little high at $17, but the streets were all metered and we were warned not to park for street cleaning in the middle of the night.
The room was big, the wifi was fast, the shower was nice, the cookies were warm and gooey, but most of all the staff was great.
