“Great Stay”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

I was there for a 3 day conference and couldn't have been happier. My room was very spacious and the bed was great. The hotel is in a very quiet area, so it was super quiet at night, which is great for me because I am not a heavy sleeper. I actually forgot my laptop and phone charges in my room after I had left for the airport and they overnighted both items to my apartment (including a pair of socks, which I had apparently forgotten). All-in-all, I was very pleased with my stay and would stay there again.

Was able to have couples time without kids prior to a meeting for business as well. Had stayed here once before years ago. Could understand some of the comments about property being dated however seemed to be in pretty good repair. Staff were over the top nice. Was in walking distance to everything in Clayton. Would stay here again for rate we were able to get off of group discount. Great steam room and workout facility as well as indoor pool and hot tub.

Great hotel in general Not quite the 5 star quality of most ritz Carlton's but the reasonable price reflects that. Great location if you are visiting wash u or have work in the Clayton area. Nice lobby with live music on some weekends. Free Coffee bar is set up in the mornings Rooms are average. Gym is nicely equipped Watch out for speed traps on the roads surrounding the hotel. Lots of revenue generated that way. If you do get a ticket you can hire a law firm to fight it for $65 dollars and they will get it dropped from a moving violation to a parking violation. Quite a racket but good to know just in case.

I've stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions on business trips in the late '90's and early '00's. This is the first time I've stayed there since that time and this time it was a leisure rather than business trip.

This particular Ritz location has definitely slipped a couple of notches. It is now owned by Marriott and one can definitely tell the difference. Marriott is a great chain but it's not a Ritz. This location is one of the most reasonably priced "luxury" hotels in St. Louis but don't let the name fool you. It is more Marriott than Ritz.

I would stay again as I love the location which is outside the city. My expectations however are more middle of the road than what one would usually expect of a Ritz.

I have stayed at this Hotel several times over the last few years. Generally speaking my latest stay was as good as in the past, though I was disappointed with the fairly recent remodeling of the rooms and lobby. I thought the style of the remodeling was out of sync with the style of the Hotel. The scale of the lobby seating was week and the rooms were not enhanced by the new furnishings and finishes. The Hotel was previously much more cohesive albeit conservative- classic design. It was obvious to me they felt compelled to try and look more hip like the Four Seasons which opened a few years ago.

I also thought the loud 80's style music and dancing on Friday and Saturday evening was annoying in the Lobby next to the Sushi bar and general seating area. I know it's a popular venue with the locals and I do like a lively Lobby/Bar scene, but not this one.

And wow!, that Cigar Bar is really smokey and the ceiling and vents highlight it with their brown color. Talk about second hand smoke. Unfortunately this was the only other later evening venue for food on Satruday other than that loud Lobby. The clothes that I packed with the clothes I wore that night now smell like smoke too.

Otherwise, it is still a pretty well cared for property with a very friendly staff. And the breakfast buffet is quite nice in the only room left untouched by the recent remodeling "efforts".

Room Tip: Try to get a room higher up so you aren't overlooking the roofline of the public spaces of the h...

Attended a business conference at The Ritz Carlton St. Louis recently. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! Spacious rooms, well-appointed decor, clean, great service, conference food first class, all the amenities you would expect. The conference rooms were nice size, audio visual worked well, appeared very streamlined and on time during the conference. Would recommend this hotel if in the St. Louis area.

Room Tip: Bathrooms are very nice and have marble floors. Bring your slippers as it was cold on the marble and...

I had made reservations at this hotel before reading the reviews. I was a bit anxious after reading "dated, stale smoke smell in Lobby", etc.; found none of this to be the case. did checkout the Cigar Club, and oh yes, definitely a smell of smoke. Upon arrival Saturday night, we found the lobby "ALIVE" with live music and a great dance experience. The waitress said Friday/Saturday nights provide live music. Obviously, those dancing were members of a local dance club as we felt we were watching 'Dancing with the Stars"! The hotel is beautiful, the entire staff was "top shelf". Only problem experienced was with our in-room coffee maker and it was replaced immediately. My only negative comment is in the costs of beverages in the lobby...$15.00 for a stem of house wine and & $5 for an iced tea....a bit excessive. Enroute home, we received a call from the hotel following up on our stay. Simply put, Great Customer Service!

Room Tip: Probably a high floor room facing the hotel front view.
