Description: Sycamore’s mission is to provide seasonal, market-driven fare at affordable prices for the Columbia community. Our focus is to serve fresh, quality dishes prepared in a creative, healthful way. Our staff is trained in all aspects of the menu and wine service, with an emphasis on understanding and respecting the kitchen. Our chef uses local purveyors when possible, and our menu features produce, cheese, meat, and value-added products from Columbia and the surrounding area.

We have been to Sycamore several times over the past few years but the most recent time was by far the best in part because the menu seems to have expanded (modestly - but sufficiently). The beet salad was excellent as were the mussels. The pork chop was enormous but incredibly well done and cooked perfectly and the rest of us had scallops. The scallops were very fresh, lightly crusted on one side, and balanced nicely with a bed of noodles and baby bok choy. The draft beers were a little too heavy for my taste but it was nice to see that the taps were occupied exclusively by Missouri beers (they do have a nice selection of bottles/cans and found a favorite from Tall Grass Brewery). Finally, the key lime tart was surprisingly tasty. Overall, this is a restaurant with a great casual vibe (or you can come as elegant as you want) with a chef who pays attention to detail and balance in all of the dishes. Great stuff.

Sycamore had an extensive menu, which changes nightly, so you know the food is fresh. Our party of four ordered a variety of food, all of which was delicious! From the appetizer to the flourless chocolate cake, everything was done to perfection.

We took our daughter (and her brother) out to celebrate her birthday. Each of us ordered a different entree, and all of us were delighted with our meals. Two of us ordered fish, trout and bass, and both were prepared just delectably. Sides were creative and flavorful. You have to order salad separately, so we ordered two house special salads to split between four people, which worked out very well. That salad is 'special' indeed, the soft cooked egg on top is amazing. The decor is pleasant and soothing with a little bit of quirky. Service was attentive, but it could have been more elegant - the waiter did the 'Who had what' thing when he brought out our food. All in all, we had a lovely time and we'll be back!

We usually like to go to a restaurant more than once before we make real comments. Our first and second times to dine at the Sycamore were very good. But, this third time was excellent. Both of us had an excellent meal. An appitizer of fried oysters could be a meal! Her trout was perfectly cooked, unlike others we have found. My beef was the best I have eaten since my roughing it days in Wyoming. The free range, grass fed beef from Legacy Beef of Missouri was excellent. The Sycamore Chef did it proud and the presentation was perfect. The bar scene is a little noisy but the openness of the room gives it a real metro feel. Great food, very good wine list, excellent service, and a nice place to dine. We will return, frequently.

One of the best meals you can get in Columbia. The menu is unique and very well prepared. Happy hour is a must for anyone looking for a more upscale experience in Columbia; the deals are great and the food is fantastic.

One of the highlights of Sycamore is their beer and wine selection. They carry beers that are impossible to get elsewhere in Columbia. Pair some good beers or wines with some great dishes and enjoy a wonderful night that is typically hard to have in a town the size of Columbia.

If you are looking for a date restaurant to impress that special someone this is a great choice. The decor is upscale and romantic and the setting feels very private and intimate.
