“Great place to stop on your Route 66 trip”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

We stayed here for it's old time charm. The rooms are recently renovated, clean and comfortable. We did find our room a little small and the layout was so that only one person could see the TV while laying in bed. There was very little space for "stuff". That said, we really enjoyed our stay there. We met several couples on their quest to check the Route 66 trip off their list...interesting people with similar interest. The grounds were well taken care of and very attractive.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet....with the exception of the occasional train passing by. I would go with a suit...

Our family stayed here on a trip from WI to Branson MO. We drove past it 2 years ago on our Route 66 trip and thought it would be great to stay there. We weren't disappointed. The hotel has been restored beautifully and the rooms are modern, with original touches. The staff are very friendly and you can tell they really care about the place. We enjoyed sitting outside and relaxing while looking at the neon sign. It was worth the stay and we would stay there again.

I chose this motel from a Route 66 guidebook. I was not disappointed. It was quaint, clean, and loved the atmosphere. The rooms are small, but what does one expect for the age of the motel? Besides, I don't intend to spend too long in the room - just enough time to sleep on a comfy bed and freshen up in the morning.
We were arriving late and the clerk contacted us and said she would leave the key under the mat for us - I don't know of any place that would that these days. It has the personal touch. The girl up front at the office / gift shop was very nice. All in all, a great place to stay.

We stayed here during our cross-country trip on Route 66. The motel is absolutely beautiful on the exterior and interior. It is obvious the owner, Connie, takes great pride in the upkeep of her business. The wifi worked great. The only downside is that there isn't much to do in Cuba, but the chance to stay in such a wonderfully restored motel was worth the stop.

We stayed here one night after a float trip. The motel itself is a historic, roadside stone structure with individual apartments in an attached row setting. All have exterior doors. You can park right outside your door. Our room was clean and updated with modern shower, sink (outside the bathroom), and flat screen tv. They also offer WI-fi. The room held a queen bed, chair and two bedside tables. It was cozy but we didn't feel cramped. The bathroom door didn't quite close all the way, but this wasn't really an issue. I think for the price it was a charming alternative. We would stay here again. I will say that if a dark room is important, then the window blinds aren't going to suit you. We did hear a train go by in the morning, but did not hear one over night. The night we stayed a county fair parade went right by the front of the hotel. Americana at it's best!

The Wagon Wheel is quaint, cozy and clean! I was thrilled to stay in lodging that was built in the early days of Route 66, and in fact had stayed there a few times as a child. It was very nostalgic. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are very nice, too. The grounds are beautifully kept. It's nice to sit outside and watch the cars go by on old 66. Great job, Connie! (plus a really good BBQ restaraunt is right next door!)

We spent the first night of our road trip at the Wagon Wheel. Everything in the room was perfect. Everything was so nice and clean, you could tell that the staff cares about the experience your going to have. The location is great. So peaceful and quiet, we had no trouble getting a great night's sleep.
