I visit Candlewood suites Saint Louis. My stay was great the room was clean the staff was a plus. My gps did not work and the people at the front desk staff was nice enough to print out directions I needed. Everyday of my stay Greg the housekeeper would ask about my day. This is my home away from home. Great place !!!!!

Dirty carpets. Bathroom vanity had chipped paint and was rotting from what appeared to be water damage. Worst thing was when I pulled the bedspread back to go to bed the sheets had several hairs on them and it appeared the bed had been slept in already. I requested a new room and was moved to a much cleaner room down the hall.

I was looking for a less-expensive place to stay in the St. Louis area while working on one of my projects, and the Candlewood Suites fit the bill.

The rooms themselves are basic, with a not-too-large TV, but they do have kitchen facilities...important when you're on per diem and don't want to eat out every meal. The property is kept up well.

There isn't a whole lot to do around that area, and you'll have to travel towards the airport on I-70, north/east on I-270, or west on I-70 to St. Charles to get a choice of restaurants. The hotel is in an industrial park, and is located across the road from Rams Park (the offices and training facility of the NFL's St. Louis Rams).

If it's amenities you want, the hotel is a little slim with those. There is no pool, but it has a nice exercise center. It also has a well-stocked pantry that operates on the honor system, but if you want more there is a convenience store next door in a strip mall/gas station.

Management handled one incident promptly. They have a large laundry room with plenty of washers, but the wife of a long-term tenant was running a side business doing laundry for his co-workers and frequently tied up all of the washers and dryers. I brought this to management's attention, and they enacted a rule that nobody could use more than half of the washers at a time, and told her to confine her "business" to daytime hours so tenants could be sure to have use of the washers after work. I was very satisfied with their resolution.

This Candlewood Suites isn't fancy, but the price was right, and the location wasn't bad. Keep this in your plans when you want to stay in the Airport/Earth City/St. Charles area.

The incident involving the employee of Candlewood suites,Earth CIty: Evening Shift desk clerk; On the evening of 2/23/07 approx 18:30. Desk Clerk attempted to use force to enter our room; He used his strength and three direct hits to the door with great force to dislodge the lock that folds across the door; He did not identify himself or his intent; The only thing that stopped his attempt to come through the door was the electric wheelchair in which he could not move. The force he used was very strong and it left a good size 12 inch indent/paint removal in the door from the wheelchair. Bent the back of the wheelchair and broke the things that secure the seat all of them. I also cut my finger when attempting to relock the door which was unsuccessful because of the brutal force he was using to get through our door. He was identified through the key hole and by his voice. After stating to him "May I help you three times; He states he had the wrong room and proceeds to let himself in easily directly across the hall; My roommate a young girl did go down and offer conversation in order to gain access to his name after the incident. I was at a safe distance watching her then went to her to encourage her to hurry up. I do not think he knew when he was talking to us at the front desk that we had indeed identified him and saw him go into the other room across the hall. I feel he was trying to gain access to the young girl who he thought was alone with my handicap brother in the room. Normally, she would have been alone. I attend my conference in the evening hours. He had called our room shortly after moving in and asked Her to go see a handicap room by herself on 2/4/07; We refused this offer. (After questioning the young girl, She said she was approached approximately one week before this incident and was asked to go out and drink with this desk clerk while exchanging the towels; The young girl did refuse his advances.) I waited until his shift ended in which I was not sure of that time. So at 2:30 am, I called the front desk to report what had happened and asked to speak to a manager. I was informed that no manager was available until Monday morning. I proceeded to call 911 in order to report this incident to the police; The night shift desk manager called my room and asked what the problem was after he was already informed of the problem; he was informed that I had indeed called the police to report this problem. Office XXX was the responding officer; Officer XXX states that he spoke to a manager and they had arranged for me to stay at the Holiday Inn River port in a one bedroom for 99$ per night (which was not true according to corporate) I was instructed to meet with a Manager on Sunday 2/25/07 at noon. I was reassured that indeed Officer XXX had verified this information himself. I proceeded to exit the property by 6:00 am left the videos on the front desk ledge along with my four room keys. I did leave the room clean; We removed all the food from the refrigerator and cabinets, vacuum cleaned with the vacuum they had left for us over the weekend; I left this in the closet; I removed the liens and placed in the bathtub per policy of priority club. My Husband and I have been members of the priority club for years and this is the first incident I had ever had; We also have a time share in which we travel frequently we have never had an incident; On Saturday at noon I called as directed and asked for the manager; I was informed by front desk clerk who had attacked our door that no manager was available and that he needed my cell phone number; Naturally I was not giving any personal information to him. I asked him very directly "Why" he had done what he did; He will not offer a reason after direct questioning by myself by phone. He just ended the call by hanging up on me. I called spoke to xxx corporate office today and they were not able to verify this information of any one speaking to a manager during the time the officer was present. I also received my case number for resolving this difficult issue. After discussing the issue with the young girl's parents and my husband, We are all in agreement that we need to press charges against Front Desk Clerk. I will keep you informed of the process. Also, I spoke with My Class Mate today she was the classmate of mine who was also staying in candlewood suites. She was also approached after checking in to her room she was in the bathroom when a man attempted to enter her room with his key; (She informed me of this incident the day it occurred like on 2/5, I blew her off thinking she had lost her mind until it happened to me.) Later after the man left, she found men's condoms in her hotel room that were not hers. She is willing to testify for me of her difficulties during the evening shift hours. Also, this man states to her "Sorry, wrong room after volating her space and her feelings of security." She did report this to the day shift front desk the next day XXX No follow up was done with her. Spoke to Officer XXXX informed him that indeed there was no meeting confirmed with the manager I felt like the information that was given to me could have put me back in close contact with XXXX whom I made the report about which was great concern to me. Greater concern that no report had been filed. I was surprised to note that it is up to the discretion of the officer if he wants to file the report. I also spoke to him about the wheelchair and my cut; Spoke to officer AAAA his supervisor who states he would get a report number for me. I discussed the wheelchair and my cut with Officer AAAA also who states that I had already left the scene he would not be able to include these in the report. Officer AAAA also was lead to believe by Officer XXX that this was a lover's quarrel; Officer XXX tried to convice me that the young girl had arranged this which I know that she knew I would be home I have known this child since fourth grade never had a problem before. I was suppose to stay another week for training. We ended the conference early. I think we all had enough. It was truely a shame to have to leave in the middle of the night as if we were not paying guest and to be treated with such disrespect. I am going to work hard toward documentation for any industry that has been charged with the security of peoples lives. Incident reports are critical to the safety of people. For them to allow a person to continue to have access to the electronic key after the damage was witnessed on the door by the police officer who states he has no power over the policies of the hotel that the hotel will have to press charges for the damage to the door not me. Is to say the least not what I expected. Maybe I am just use to how things are documented in the hospital and I am holding another industry to the same standards. But, should'nt they be.....
