“Ribs to die for”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

Took us awhile to find this place since we were looking in the historic section in front of The Elms Hotel. While facing the hotel this BBQ joint is to the right by a couple of blocks. I am so glad we found it because we have been to most of the BBQ restaurants in Kansas City as well as other cities and without doubt these ribs and burnt ends were the best...seriously. Ambience is like a local tavern/bar and price fits the atmosphere. We bellied up to the bar, had a couple of beers, and chatted with the friendly bartender and a local while we devoured those ribs. We live 275 miles away, but we' ll be back!

“Not Fancy Decor, But Really Tasty Food”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

Visited on a weekday evening, the Bar was crowded, we sat on the other side. This was my first visit, my companions have a long history with the Wabash. Servings are large, we decided to order a Full Slab Meal, which came with two sides. Evidently requesting the Full Slab Meal to be served "family" style is fairly common, the kitchen portioned our two sides, BBQ Beans and Cole Slaw, into portion cups, one per patron. The meat was very good, the extra sauce tasty, the cole slaw was fresh, and the Beans added a nice touch. Note, there is a roll of paper towels in the center of the table, handy! Our Server did a great job of taking care of us, and the kitchen had the food out quickly. A great experience all around.

“Good BBQ”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

If you like crowded bar atmospheres, you'll probably like the Wabash - if not, you may want to order out or try to find an outside table. Either way you will enjoy the BBQ. The food was good and the service efficient. Prices were decent as well.

“Poorly managed, understaffed, average food, horrible atmosphere .”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Actually had a fly in the drink, appetitizer came out 5 minutes after the main course. After requesting the manager to review the bill I got the same person who I had to go to to fix the drink to begin with. She couldn't have cared less. No issue I am a local who will express my dissatisfaction with walbash to anyone who listens. The owner was there and he has no clue how his kitchen runs. I would love to see the next health inspection. Don't waste your time or risk your health.
