“Great two-night stay & nice pool”
Reviewed 24 June 2007

This hotel turned out to be a restful place. I always take a static noise machine to help drown out as much outside noise as I can, but it really wasn't needed.
The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was acceptable (though the serving area was small), and the pool was great. My son and I had the entire pool to ourselves before 5 p.m.
The hotel is within walking distance of a Denny's restaurant.

The only real drawback is how to get there. You have to get off on Bowles Ave., which coming from St. Louis is somewhat confusing. You cross over I-44, then turn between a gas station and a Sonic restaurant. You then follow the drive by a semi-truck parking area, past a Drury Inn parking area, cross over the Denny's restaurant parking area, and then you are at the hotel.

Once you get use to this, you are ok.

The staff was very helpful and friendly, and getting extra towels was no problem. You might want to consider taking your breakfast back to your room, unless you go early. Breakfast consisted of different types of cereals, plus milk, apple or orange juice, toast, doughnuts, fruits and coffee. I found it to be rather nice.

Overall, I would stay here again if in the St. Louis area.

Check in was an absolute breeze, the girl at the desk was very pleasant and fast, which in nice after a long trip! The room was clean. It was small but very well taken care of. We had two double beds on the third floor. The pool was very clean and well attended. No lifeguard of course but nice just the same. We got express check out, they just put the bill under your door, leave your cards in your room and all done! Every staff person we saw were very nice, always asking how things were going. The "expanded" continental breakfast was ok, my boyfriend got sick after eating a muffin though. Don't know if he was just getting sick or what, but....The only downfall is the location. It's kinda backwards getting off the freeway to the hotel if you are coming from St. Louis, you have to get on the frontage road on both sides of the freeway to get there and its just kinda screwy. But, its worth it! There are a lot of decent restaurants around as well and a pretty fun sports bar about half mile down the frontage road if you are looking to unwind with a few drinks!

Pretty good deal for money: visited Drury properties directly on line and selected E-saver rate, which was the best i found. Only downside was a $25 cancellation charge.

Our room had been preselected by the property as a 3d floor; upon check-in, I requested a first-floor room. The desk clerk was good about making the change, although the room ended up being right next to the vending room and was a bit noisy throughout the night.

The room, however, was clean and comfortable. The housekeeping job was a bit slack, but OK. The morning staff was great and the continental breakfast offerings were pretty good, but it was 7 am and at that hour, they tend to be better stocked.

The property is dog-friendly and there are places to walk around the property that will not disturb others. The property is next door to a pretty decent barbeque place, Bandanas, which also does takeout.

I stayed at this hotel on a Wednesday night in September 2006. This hotel is a good value for the money. I paid right at $59 for a double. This hotel is new, clean, and doesn't smell. This is a great hotel for anyone on a budget that doesn't need a lot of extras.

The Good:
My reservation was correct and ready for me. Check in took all of 2 minutes, the guy at the desk was friendly and offered to help us with anything we needed. They had quick check out, they put the bill under your door and you just leave your key cards in the room.

The price was great. Anything under $60 you would expect to be a rat-trap, old as dirt, or run down, but this hotel was very new, very clean, and there were no weird odors.

The Bad:
The entrance was uninviting. I went in the main covered door, but it felt like I was going in a back way. The entrance was bricked off and I wasn't sure it was the right place, but that is where the front desk was.

The bathroom was small. The sink area was less than 3 feet wide and felt like a closet.

The beds were small and too soft. The double beds were full's, not queens. The mattress felt like it had too little structure and if you lie down too close to the edge, you felt like you were going to roll off. Still, if you are alone on the bed and can balance yourself in the middle, it was ok, but I wouldn't want to share it with anyone.

The Neutral:
Breakfast was typical continental. Bagels, toast, muffins, cereal, banannas, milk, and juice.

The area of town seemed safe, it was close to the interstate and there was a denny's between the pear tree and the drury. There was a sonic by the entrance as well as a gas & quick-stop. The only weird thing was there were a lot of 18-wheelers parked behind the Denny's, but that was not a big deal.

The room was a bit on the small side, but about average for the value.

OVERALL:
I would stay here again when I want something at a budget price. If I wanted to spend a little more, I'd step up to the Drury or go with another chain, but for a basic, clean, nice stay, this is about as good as you can get.
