We had a wonderful time at the Alpenhorn Gasthaus! We stayed in the Das Landhaus which was our own private cottage. We visited some wineries in the area then came back to the B&B and saw their private wine cellar then spent some time in the hot tub. It was very romantic and relaxing. The area was beautiful as well as the bed and breakfast! We ended our stay with an amazing breakfast! Kate and Adrian made us very comfortable and had an amazing place! Thanks for everything!

Alpenhorn was our first stop on our 20th anniversary B&B getaway, and set the bar high for the rest of our trip. We stayed in Das Landhaus, the larger of the 2 cabins. Bring your bathing suit! The jacuzzi is right outside, under a billion stars. The bed was so comfy and we had a small refrigerator, mini-coffee pot that was all set for the AM, nice shower gels and big fluffy towels. Also loved the CD player with a great selection of music! Fondue dinner in the candle lit wine cellar our first night was something I will never forget. The food was divine and the setting so unique, romantic and perfect. Would be a great place for a marriage proposal... We barely noticed the chill in the air because Kate and Adrian provided lap blankets, and a space heater was glowing behind us. Kate's prize winning chocolate truffle cake was so good we requested it for dessert the next night. Breakfasts were heavenly. Kate serves a sweet and a savory dish each morning, as well as awesome coffee, fresh squeezed juice or homemade spiced cider. For our Anniversary night dinner, we gladly dined in again, and once again, Kate and Adrian graced us with a perfect meal. Delicious salad with fresh crisp greens, toasty nuts and fruit and a homemade dressing, home baked foccacia with basil olive oil, dreamy smashed potatoes, and a tender and flavorful roast pork loin. Oh yes, and Kate's stuffed herb-cheese mushrooms and roasted green beans were so good that my husband, who has never enjoyed mushrooms or green beans, is asking me to make them at home! We loved the funky Das Landhaus room. It was the perfect, private setting for the two of us. We enjoyed seeing the other rooms at the Alpenhorn as well. Das Kleine Haus is darling...a tiny, perfect cabin. The rooms inside the Inn are probably the more traditional bed and breakfast rooms. All are lovely. The King Room has a rich feel, is large with a sitting area, renovated bath and glowy fireplace. Which ever room you choose, if you love good food and a relaxed, romantic setting, you can't go wrong at Alpenhorn.

My boyfriend took me to Hermann for the Chocolate Wine Trail this past weekend, and based on a family friend's recommendation, we decided to spend two nights at the Alpenhorn Gasthaus. Words simply cannot give justice to this lovely bed & breakfast. We were greeted by Adrian Friday evening, who gave us a tour of the grounds and offered us some of Kate's delicious double chocolate chip cookies. As somewhat of a chocoholic, I was immediately thrilled! We reserved an hour in the hot tub, selected a bottle of wine from their century-old wine cellar, and spent the evening in total relaxation. Our three-course breakfast both mornings was superb, and we found ourselves trying to maintain our politesse by not licking the plates. We plan on returning as soon as possible, and we'll be certain that next time Kate prepares us dinner. We had originally planned to find food in town, but we quickly realized the inferiority of the majority of establishments' cuisine when compared to Kate's culinary expertise. She graciously agreed to accommodate us by preparing beautiful salads with fresh-baked bread for dinner. I recommend this bed & breakfast to anyone who is searching for an enchanting, secluded, and friendly atmosphere where you can truly escape the hectic droning of everyday life.

I was able to take my wife on a surprise birthday trip to Hermann and stay at the Alpenhorn.
We road the train in to Hermann and was pick-ed up by Adrian who filled us in on some of the history of Hermann. We were able to unwind and enjoy the wonderful amenities of this cozy home in almost total privacy. While at dinner we enjoyed the company of Kate and Adrian and another couple who had just been married in the wine cellar . (Awesome meal!) Breakfast was comfortable and casual (and delicious) to end our weekend. Adrian then took us to catch our train home capping a memorable trip.

My wife and I just returned from spending Valentine's Day weekend at this wonderful B&B in the heart of Missouri wine country. We were very warmly greeted by Adrian and Kate upon our arrival and were made to feel that this was our home away from home for the weekend. For our first night dinner, we had the fondue in the wine cellar. What a wonderful experience! The first course was probably the best salad that my wife and I have ever had. Kate was kind enough to give us the recipe for the great salad dressing. The fondue was a wonderful blend of various cheese, all done in the traditional Swiss method. The desert, a great dark chocolate tart, was amazing. On both mornings we had a three course breakfast, which left us needing only a very light lunch later in the day. On our last night, we had the four-course dinner in the Harvest Room, which was one of the best meals that we have ever had. Again, Kate and Adrian were very helpful in giving us some of the recipes. The Norton port reduction over the pork tenderloin was wonderful!

Adrian and Kate were very helpful in providing suggestions on the various wineries to sample and for various places around town. Their suggestions proved correct in each instance.

We have stayed in several B&Bs across the country and I will say without hesitation that this one is the best one that we have stayed in. We left feeling that we had become friends with Kate and Adrian. We will definitely return for a weekend getaway!

My husband surprised me with a get-a-way to Herman. We stayed at the Alpenhorn Gasthaus overnight. The room was really cute and cozy. Adrian and Kate, the owners, were absolutly wonderful. We had dinner in the wine cellar, which was not only tasty but a wonderful setting...something not to miss. A truly wonderful B&B!!
